Parks And Rec Meets Brooklyn Nine-Nine: 5 Couples That Would Work (& 5 That Wouldn't)

Part of what makes a good sitcom work is a lovable group of characters. Two shows that nailed this aspect are Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Both of these series featured several memorable characters all of whom worked so well together and some memorable couples emerged from both teams.

Though we sadly never got to see these two hit shows crossover with each other, it's fun to think about how these personalities would clash if the Pawnee Parks Department met the 99th Precinct of the NYPD. Whether it be romantic or just platonic soulmates, some personalities would be perfect matches while others would no doubt be disastrous.

10 Would Work: Chris & Terry

Given the wacky mishaps each of these teams often finds themselves in, they each need to have their own endlessly optimistic members. For Parks and Rec, that role is filled by Chris Traeger while Terry Jeffords is like the mother figure for the Brooklyn Nine-Nine crew.

These two guys are always supportive and would likely have nothing but kind words to say to each other. They are also both big health and fitness nuts who could talk endlessly about their respective workout routines.

9 Wouldn't Work: Chris & Hitchcock And Scully

While Hitchcock and Scully are two separate characters, they are so linked together in this behavior and everything else they do that we might as well count them as one. And as one, they would likely be Chris Traeger's worst nightmare.

While Chris likes to be supportive, he also doesn't like laziness or incompetence at all. Their work as detectives would be a personal insult for him. Even more insulting, their disgusting eating habits would be enough to drive Chris insane.

8 Would Work: Gina & Tom

During her time on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Gina Linetti was always acting like she deserved to be anywhere else other than hanging out with these people. Similarly, Tom Haverford was a man whose appetites were too big for Pawnee.

These two seem to have the same obsession with all things pop culture, from the latest pop music to the trashiest reality television. They could feed into each other's delusions that they are somehow living their own celebrity lifestyle.

7 Wouldn't Work: Leslie & Gina

Leslie Knope is one of the most enthusiastic people in the world. Unfortunately, enthusiasm is one of Gina Linetti's least favorite things in the world. It's unlikely these two people would ever really enjoy spending time with one another.

While Leslie enjoys trying to win over the grumpiest of people, Gina's careless attitude and stubbornness would be hard to get past. Leslie's enthusiasm would constantly get on Gina's nerve and she would just ridicule everything Leslie did.

6 Would Work: Amy & Leslie

While Leslie Knope's passion for work might be a turn off for many people, she would no doubt find a kindred spirit in Amy Santiago. Like Leslie, Amy is someone who takes tremendous pride in her work and is at her happiest when she is dealing with paperwork and organizing.

The love these two have for binders alone is proof that they would be the best of friends. Amy would also look at Leslie as a mentor which she always craves while Leslie would see Amy as someone she would gladly take under her wing

5 Wouldn't Work:  Ron & Amy

Amy Santiago is a bit of a teacher's pet. As soon as Captain Holt arrives at the Nine-Nine, she does everything she can to impress him. She even sees him as a father figure at times. That kind of emotional connection is the kind of thing Ron Swanson tries to avoid at all costs.

Ron can be a caring person in small doses but he would much rather keep to himself. Amy would just demand far too much of his attention and he would not put up with her brown-nosing. Meanwhile, Amy would go crazy thinking the Ron hates her.

4 Would Work: April & Rosa

While there are a lot of bubbly personalities in both of these workplaces, it can be nice to see a pair of characters who are not afraid to be a little darker. April Ludgate begins as the young intern in the Parks Department while Rosa Diaz is the precinct's toughest detective.

April enjoys anything that pushes against the normal conventions, so she would fall in love with Rosa's rebellious nature and standoffish personality. Rosa on the other hand would likely find April's dark sense of humor to be just her cup of tea.

3 Wouldn't Work: Boyle & April

One of the things April likes best in tormenting the office stooge, Jerry. Though he is a really nice guy who goes out of his way to help those around him, his awkward personality makes him a perfect target for April.

That does not bode well for Charles Boyle who is like the Jerry of his office. Boyle would no doubt try constant things to win over April's approval and none of them would work. Any relationship they had would be unpleasant for him.

2 Would Work: Holt & Ron

As the bosses in charge of both respective workplaces, Captain Raymond Holt and Ron Swanson are very similar men. Neither of them are overly fond of shenanigans that go on in their office, they address pretty much everything in their life with total seriousness, and it is hard to get any emotion out of either of them.

As soon as these two men would meet, it is likely they would form an instant kinship based on their lack of small talk. They would likely do various impressive hobbies together in silence and enjoy every moment of it.

1 Wouldn't Work: Andy & Holt

For Holt, the immaturity of Detective Jake Peralta can only be ignored because of the fact that he is a very good detective. However, it is unlikely he would have the same patience with a person like Andy Dwyer who is immature and also not a great employee. Holt just couldn't abide by someone who is so gleefully aimless in life.

In Andy's case, he would be bored to death by Holt. The two men share absolutely nothing in common in terms of their interests and they would both be happy avoiding each other at all costs.
