Vision comic book writer Tom King adds fuel to the rumors that Sparky the Android Dog will appear in WandaVision. Among the first MCU shows to debut on Disney+, WandaVision will focus on Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) following the events of Avengers: Endgame. The catch? Vision is still deceased in the MCU's current timeline, having died due to Thanos' (Josh Brolin) hunt for the Infinity Stones. It's still unclear how Vision will return to the land of the living, but fans won't have to wait much longer to discover the answer: WandaVision has been pushed to this year, whereas before it was set for 2021.
One of the few concrete details that have emerged about WandaVision is that it will have a retro '50s-style setting, as evidenced through the pieces of promotional art featuring Wanda and Vision as if they were in a sitcom. It looks to be inspired by the comics written by King, where Vision strove to create the ideal human suburban life for his android family. One part of that family was Sparky, and fans have been curious about whether the pup will make an appearance in WandaVision, especially after Marvel boss Kevin Feige hinted at a Sparky cameo.
Now King is contributing to those rumors with an Instagram post showing a picture of Sparky from the comics. King's caption says, "Sparky coming soon to Disney plus. Apparently." Feige has already confirmed WandaVision is partially inspired by King's run, so including Sparky would make sense. Check out King's post below:
Many are wondering if Wanda will have a hand in reviving Vision and if the '50s setting is a result of her using her magic to cope with losing him. It could be that the retro style is a fantasy created by Wanda for her to live out her dream life with Vision. While it's unclear if WandaVision will feature Wanda and Vision's children, having a dog around would further the domestic image Wanda might be seeking. It would certainly be a nice tribute to King's stories, especially if the series deviates from the rest of the run.
WandaVision is shaping up to be a very interesting and very busy series. Beyond Olsen and Bettany, the supporting cast includes Teyonah Parris as an adult Monica Rambeau, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, and Randall Park as Jimmy Woo. Plus, there are rumors that WandaVision will introduce the Young Avenger Hulkling. The sitcom aspect of the series should provide some excellent story opportunities and featuring Sparky will surely please fans. After all, who doesn't like dogs?
