The fifth installment in the franchise sees Harry, Ron, and Hermione return to battle another year at Hogwarts, and like every Harry Potter movie, the funny moments are ever-present. Still dealing with the events of Goblet of Fire, the Golden Trio form Dumbledore’s Army and attempt to deal with everything thrown at them once more in Order of The Phoenix.
Despite featuring several dark moments, including arguably the saddest death in the entire franchise, the characters still find a way to get some humorous quotes in there.
When Harry and his friends are trying to find a place to practice defending themselves, Neville comes across the Room of Requirement. No one knew anything about the room, except Hermione, of course.
Hermione states that the room of requirement only appears when a person has a real need of it and it is always equipped with the seeker's need. Trying to put the use of the room into context, this is Ron’s response. Although he kind of has the right idea, it’s nice to know that this is the first thing that comes to Ron’s mind.
After Harry gets a letter telling him he’s been expelled from Hogwarts, Moody, Tonks, and other members of the Order come to rescue him. After a poor attempt at quietly breaking into Harry’s room, Harry is confused and asks why Professor Moody is at his house, prompting Moody to respond with this quote.
Although Moody is one of the most serious characters and this quote perhaps wasn’t intended to be funny, it references Ron saving Harry in Chamber of the Secrets. It’s like Harry should know by now that if anyone comes to the Dursleys, it’s obviously to save him.
Several questions surround Arabella Figg from Harry Potter, as not much is known about her. However, she shows Harry early on that she is one of the good ones. After the Dementors attack Harry and Dudley, Harry is forced to use magic outside of school, leading to a hearing.
During the hearing, Mrs. Figg is called as a witness and is asked to describe the dementors. Misunderstanding Fudge, she ends up describing Harry and Dudley, instead of the dementors. This line is unintentionally funny due to Mrs. Figg’s innocent and timid nature.
Ron and Crookshanks always had a difficult relationship and it often caused Ron and Hermione to argue. Crookshanks could detect people masking as animals and therefore always went after Scabbers, meaning Ron’s opinion on him was less than pleasant.
When Harry and his friends are using an extendable ear to eavesdrop on members of the Order, Crookshanks grabs the ear and starts biting it, causing it to break. No longer being able to hear what they are saying, Ron vents his frustration by telling Hermione once more how much he hates her cat.
Ron was often an underrated Harry Potter character and sometimes flew under the radar compared to Harry and Hermione. When the students are practicing defending themselves, Ron is up against Hermione. Despite Hermione being exceptionally intelligent when it came to magic, Ron still thought he could take her on and told her he would go easy on her.
Unfortunately for Ron, he couldn’t have been more wrong, and Hermione sent him flying. Trying to mask his embarrassment, Ron tells his brothers that he let Hermione do that when he clearly didn’t.
Underage magic was strictly forbidden outside Hogwarts and the use of it could lead to expulsion. Once Fred and George turned 17, they took full advantage of the new opportunity, much to Molly’s dismay.
When Molly is talking, Fred and George magically appear and scare her and her calm voice soon turns into shouting. Fans hadn’t been blessed with an iconic Molly Weasley shouting quote since early on in Chamber of Secrets, so hilarious scenes like this are one of the many reasons why fans love her.
Ron Weasley is the character you can always count on to provide a comical moment in a serious situation. After the events of Goblet of Fire, several of the students are struggling to believe that Voldemort has returned and was responsible for Cedric’s death.
When Harry, Ron, and Hermione form Dumbledore’s Army, one of the students asks why they need to defend themselves. Responses like this are why Ron is responsible for several funny moments in the Harry Potter movies, and it’s fair to say that no one says it quite like Ron Weasley.
Arthur Weasley’s fascination with muggles was presented early on in the movies, and it comes to a head once more when he and Harry have to use the London Underground. Arthur couldn’t contain his excitement in this scene and couldn’t wrap his head around the use of escalators and ticket machines.
This quote is given its comical value because Arthur is so amazed by muggle technology, yet the fact that a wizard can do pretty much anything they want with the wave of their wand doesn’t even faze him.
After Harry kisses Cho, Hermione explains how she must be feeling very confused. After giving several reasons, Ron says how it can’t be possible for one person to feel all those things, prompting Hermione to come out with one of the best quotes from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Unlike Ron, Hermione isn’t exactly known for her comedic moments, but it is guaranteed that she’ll deliver a hilarious one-liner that fans never forget. Not to mention the pure laughter that came after this quote was one of the most wholesome moments in the entire franchise.
After Harry and his friends create Dumbledore’s Army, the Ministry is mistaken and believes Dumbledore formed it to fight Voldemort. When Cornelius Fudge brings Shacklebolt to arrest Dumbledore, Fawkes comes to the rescue and Dumbledore disappears before everyone’s eyes.
It’s like Shacklebolt forgets who his audience is when he comes out with this incredible one-liner. Fudge and Umbridge are enraged that Dumbledore has managed to escape, so the timing of this quote couldn’t be more perfect, not to mention the delivery of the line is hilarious.
