Warning! Spoilers for Star Wars: Bounty Hunters #14
Star Wars has confirmed the most important bloodline in the galaxy since the Skywalker family. Although she isn’t a Force user, Cadeliah has the capacity to unite the most dangerous groups from the Star Wars underworld.
While Beilert Valance and Dengar search for the frozen carbonite body of Han Solo, they meet a new assassin in the form of Deathstick. As Crimson Dawn continues to get one step closer to success, it seems that an unlikely someone could stand in their way. The positions of power in the galaxy are shifting in Star Wars: Bounty Hunters #14, written by Ethan Sacks with art by Paola Villanelli. Star Wars has always had a core theme of family, so it feels fitting that’s what would impact the ongoing crossover event, War of the Bounty Hunters.
It has been revealed that a young girl named Cadeliah is the true heir to two crime syndicates: the Mourner’s Wail along with the Unbroken Clan. This makes her a bridge who can bring the two infamous forces together. In the midst of the War of the Bounty Hunters, there is now a race to get Cadeliah back home before Crimson Dawn comes for her. Born as the heir of these two rival gangs, she has the potential to gain the attention of the syndicates. This effectively makes Cadeliah's bloodline the most integral one in the Star Wars universe aside from the Skywalkers. After this information is disclosed, her grandfather begs that Cadeliah’s identity be kept a secret as Crimson Dawn wouldn’t want her to “potentially unite the other syndicates.”
This confirmation that she is the key to possibly ending the ongoing war is a major blow to Crimson Dawn, currently led by the fallen Maul’s protege, Qi’ra. However, it’s only appropriate that the most unassuming person, a child, could be the answer to peace. Such an heir to power echoes the position that Luke Skywalker finds himself in when he faces his father in a duel on Cloud City. Darth Vader offers him a hand to rule over the galaxy, and similarly, Cadeliah will soon have to choose to unite the syndicates rather than pick sides.
Cadeliah’s grandfather asks bounty hunters T'onga and Losha to protect Cadelia, placing them in a position that is reminiscent of Obi-Wan Kenobi as he watched over Luke on Tatooine, ensuring his safety from the Empire and the survival of the Skywalker family. Now, Crimson Dawn is the Empire-status syndicate that has gained the upper hand in the Star Wars underworld. It’s also comparable to Din Djarin protecting Grogu in The Mandalorian, as the child had a destiny beyond the current circumstances of war, but attracted the attention of an Imperial remnant. Now, T’onga and Losha must race against time before Crimson Dawn comes after Cadeliah. With the threat of Qi’ra and Deathstick, Maul’s assassin successor, they are desperate for a win.
