Warning: contains major spoilers for Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point #6!
Fortnite previously gave Batman the Zero Suit, but now he and Catwoman are getting another set of new costumes via their evil clones. Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point #6 has revealed the secrets of the island and that includes duplicate versions of island inhabitants. Now, those duplicates include Batman and Catwoman.
The Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point story has come to an end. Batman has discovered many of the secrets of the game's world and made new partnerships across a broader multiverse. In the last issue, Deathstroke turns on Batman and Catwoman, stranding them while he returns to Gotham and DC's main universe. The Dark Knight has fought his way through memory loss cycles and alliance complications, all while rocking the Fortnite Zero Suit. The game isn't letting him go without showing him a new "what might have been" outfit.
Created by Donald Mustard, Christos Gage, Christian Duce, John Kalisz, and Andworld Design, Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point #6 features the caped crusader working with Catwoman to get home - by trying to find an ally in Harley Quinn. While doing so, the two find themselves up against themselves - the island's hidden controllers have successfully replicated the two characters. These aren't the standard Batman and Catwoman, however. They're upgraded versions and Catwoman's clone is one that Fortnite fans may recognize and be rather surprised to see here.
Batman's duplicate has gotten a major upgrade. Instead of the standard Zero Suit, which only partially covers him, this version of him dons the Armored Batman Zero Suit. This suit is exactly what it sounds like - an armored version worn in the world of Fortnite after crossing through the Zero Point. The Dark Knight isn't the only one with an upgrade, however. Catwoman's duplicate gets a full-face mask over her usual outfit, looking strikingly similar to Lynx Kassandra. Lynx Kassandra is an original Fortnite character, a Mythic Ninja. This character is the third level tier of Lynx's set. She is part of the Frostnite Mythics. This is a very unexpected upgrade for Catwoman, though one that is definitely welcome.
The world of Fortnite has been progressively connecting to the DC universe in a new way and now, the DC characters are truly becoming a part of Fortnite's world as well. While much of Catwoman's outfit did not change for her duplicate, she is incredibly striking in this form. She looks fearsome and has incorporated the island in a way that hasn't been seen within Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point before. Simply existing on the island and visiting from another universe is not the same as actually reflecting part of the island's mythos. These new outfits show a different way for these two universes to come together that extends past the story.
The duplicates are island-born due to them being created ON the island. Even though Batman and Catwoman leave and return home, these duplicates will remain on the island, likely still in these forms. This means a new universal variant of these two major DC characters could permanently exist in the world of Fortnite. Adventure was certainly expected from this series, as were new DC skins and accessories for the game when it released, but these connections are next level thinking with tons of story potential and possible ramifications for these universes. These duplicates of Batman and Catwoman may be evil, but their new looks are amazing.
