New information about the Feywild will be revealed in The Wild Beyond the Witchlight campaign for Dungeons & Dragons, as it's broken up into Domains of Delight, which are faerie equivalents to the Domains of Dread from Ravenloft. The Feywild is a magical echo of the Prime Material Plane, where creatures like the fey reside.
The Feywild is a chaotic plane in Dungeons & Dragons that is more in line with dark fairy tales than the standard fantasy settings of most D&D worlds. It's a location that has barely been touched on in the current edition of D&D, but it was more important during the fourth edition of the game, as was the original homeland of the eladrin, who are more commonly known as high elves in most settings.
Dungeons & Dragons' Feywild will be featured prominently in the upcoming The Wild Beyond the Witchlight campaign, as players will be able to visit it after journeying to a magical carnival. There are new rules to be followed in the Feywild, as its design now mirrors that of Ravenloft.
A recent press event hosted by Wizards of the Coast featured a segment about The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, which included information about D&D's Feywild. The Feywild is split into different regions, called the Domains of Delight. These are ruled by beings known as the Archfey, who can reshape their Domain of Delight to their will. Unlike the Darklords who are trapped in their Domains of Dread in Ravenloft, the Archfey are the rulers of their Domains of Delight. If they are anything like the Archfey in old editions of D&D, then their power is in the same range as that of a demigod.
The Domain of Delight that is featured in The Wild Beyond the Witchlight is called the Palace of Heart's Desire. This realm is home to a treant with a treehouse built into its body, which is where a group of kids called the Getaway Gang like to hang out. The official mascot of the Getaway Gang is a displacer beast named Star. Those who are familiar with Dungeons & Dragons' displacer beasts know that the adult versions are vicious monsters. Star represents the freedom of Dungeons & Dragons' Feywild, and it's a living representative of the plane, being different to what players might expect in a regular Dungeons & Dragons campaign.
The Wild Beyond the Witchlight will be released on September 21, 2021.
