Star Wars: 7 Times Ben Solo Acted Like His Father | ScreenRant

Like father, like son. Everyone inherits some personality traits from their parents, even if it's subtle. Adam Driver's Kylo Ren is not an exception to this; Kylo Ren is Ben Solo, the son of the legendary general, Rebel, smuggler, and scoundrel: Han Solo.

Ben Solo in many ways is drastically different than Han. However, as the sequel trilogy of Star Wars movies progressed, Ben emulated his father more and more. More mannerisms of Han Solo began to come through in Ben. These parallels between father and son range from subtle or blatant with some of them going viral.

7 If They Point, It's Time To Be Silent

What's the best way to get someone annoying to be quiet? Point at them menacingly. In The Empire Strikes Back, C-3P0 is constantly whining to Han about the situation they are in. This results in Han silencing him when the droid is trying to tell him something.

Kylo Ren does the same thing, nearly identical to General Hux. Fitting seeing how General Hux is basically a First Order version of C-3P0. The best part is that it works: Kylo Ren finally gets Hux to shut up after three movies.

6 Redeeming Themselves

Many forget that Han Solo was not much of a hero at first. He had to be bribed into taking Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke on their journey, after all. Next, he was a whiny punk who refused to help and was only in it for the money. Han even split to enjoy his money in the Battle of Yavin.

However, Han Solo returned to save Luke thus allowing the destruction of the Death Star. His son goes through his own redemption arc. Starting off as a murderous zealot in The Force Awakens only to become a Jedi in the last act in The Rise of Skywalker. He killed Kylo Ren and returned to Ben Solo.

5 Slick Sliding Scoundrels

In The Last Jedi, Ben is just as confused by his Force Bond with Rey as she is. In a very quick moment, he follows Rey into a hallway; this is when he slides slyly out in a shot that went viral. It's one of those moments that impossible to not notice after finally noticing it.

This is very similar to a slide Han Solo delivers in Return of the Jedi. It's when he tricks the Imperials out of the bunker on Endor for an ambush by Rebels and Ewoks alike. Both Harrison Ford and Adam Driver strike the pose perfectly.

4 Who Needs To Aim Anyway

Han Solo was making iconic moments for himself even as an older man in The Force Awakens; old but far from obsolete. During the battle on Takodana, Han Solo takes out a stormtrooper without even looking. This either shows how incompetent stormtroopers are or how awesome Han is.

In The Rise of Skywalker, Ben Solo pulls the same trick when he arrives to assist Rey on Exegol. After performing a slide similar to the aforementioned one, he easily takes out an enemy using a blaster.

3 Sacrificing Themselves For Love

Though he did not die, Han did prove he is a hero in The Empire Strikes Back. To keep Leia and the others alive, Han agrees to take himself off the table. After the iconic "I know" moment between him and Leia, Han is frozen in carbonite.

Ben does also prove himself a hero in The Rise of Skywalker. It takes all of Rey's lifeforce to destroy her grandfather Palpatine, rendering her near-death. Remembering what Rey did for him, Ben uses the Force to heal her. It works in reviving her: the two could finally kiss after a trilogy of build-up. Unfortunately, Ben dies as a result of his heroism, allowing him to fade and become one with the Force. A fitting end.

2 One Hell Of A Pilot

Two relatives come into play in this case. In The Last Jedi, Kylo Ren pilots the TIE Silencer and takes to the cockpit rather well. This hints that Ben likely grew up on the Millennium Falcon learning by watching his father. Though, having Anakin Skywalker's blood helps as well.

Han Solo was easily one of the best pilots in the galaxy. Han was able to escape entire fleets, famously make the Kessell run in twelve parsecs, and make a landing approach from lightspeed. Move aside Poe Dameron, Han is still the top dog when it comes to flying.

1 Solos Shrug In The Face Of Danger

After performing that cute little slide in Return of the Jedi, Han ambushes the Imperials. How else is Han Solo going to greet them besides a devilishly charming shrug? It's a moment in Star Wars history that's iconic for Han Solo as a character; it even created memes.

Of course, Ben tributes this moment of his father's during his epic arrival on Exegol. When he's surrounded by the Knights Of Ren, Rey uses their Force Bond to teleport the Skywalker lightsaber to him. As the Knights all look astonished, Ben brilliantly gives a cocky shrug. This was one of the most famous parts of the film that also created memes.
