Koei Tecmo Teases 2021 Game Reveals That Players Have Been Waiting For

Koei Tecmo has promised that its video game reveals in 2021 will satisfy fans who've been waiting for something special from the publisher. It's interesting to see the company make such ambitious claims, considering that its websites are still offline following a major cyber attack. One can only hope that this hack isn't as severe as the one that recently impacted Capcom, and leaked the company's next four years of video game releases.

The company has been quite forthcoming with its plans for the future recently. For instance, about a week ago, the company revealed that Nioh 2 is the final game in its franchise. The Nioh series took heavy inspiration from From Software's iconic Dark Souls franchise, presenting a third person action RPG centered around incredibly high difficulty and titanic, challenging boss fights. The two-game series saw considerable success, enough to propel Nioh 2 through multiple DLC packs and a next-gen remaster of both games, but now the developers seem to have decided that the franchise has run its course.

But the end of the Nioh franchise hasn't slowed Koei Tecmo down. In a New Years card published by Gematsu, Koei Tecmo assures fans that it's preparing several new game reveals for 2021. Apparently these titles are set to make fans think "at last!" which suggests that the company is planning to resurrect a franchise that's fallen a bit by the wayside. At the time of this writing, of course, these revelatory announcements have yet to be revealed, leaving fans with nothing but speculation.

It's hard to guess what these new "at last!" announcements might be. Koei Tecmo is responsible for a lot of beloved video game franchises, like Ninja Gaiden and Fatal Frame. It's also the company behind the Dynasty Warriors franchise, which has seen recent success through spinoffs like Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity. Nintendo has already stated that it doesn't intend to make a franchise out of Hyrule Warriors, but it has been quite a while since the last main series Dynasty Warriors game; a new entry in that series would probably excite fans quite a bit.

Numerous companies have lined up a lot of exciting games for 2021. The recent release of the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S have opened the gates for developers to run wild with powerful next-gen hardware, and it looks like a lot of companies are already rising to the challenge. Time will tell how Koei Tecmo's plans will fit into this new era of video game technology, but assuming it can reinforce its firewalls, the future is looking bright.
