DC Confirms 'Being Batman' is Basically A Superpower

Warning: spoilers ahead for DCeased: Dead Planet #6!

In the latest issue of DCeased: Dead Planetthe surviving DC heroes may have just come up with a means to cure the world of the corrupted Anti-Life Equation, turning their friends and loved ones back into their normal selves. However, while they have the means thanks to Cyborg, the latest issue of Dead Planet sees the heroes actually figuring out how to make the cure. Collecting the best and brightest minds together to come up with a solution, several qualified experts are among the special think tank, and Damian Wayne's Batman is included as well... for the sole reason that he's the Dark Knight, effectively proving that the title of Batman is a superpower in and of itself.

It's a commonly held belief that "Being Batman" is something that should be striven towards by DC fans. A rather comedic take on this concept is with the popular phrase advising people to "Always be yourself. Unless you can be Batman. Then always be Batman." In terms of his commitment, study, and years of training and dedication to achieve the peak of what the human body can do physically and mentally, it's understandable why being Batman would get you invited to any proactive gathering.

As Damian Wayne shows in DCeased: Dead Planet #6 from writer Tom Taylor with art by Trevor Hairsine, attaining the mantle and title of Batman pretty much grants the best qualification anyone in the DC Universe could have. Each and every one of the characters who come together to unify their great minds and expertise in the goal of creating a cure have their credentials referenced in the issue: Swamp Thing was once a brilliant biochemist, Poison Ivy is a doctor of toxicology, Mary Marvel has the Wisdom of Solomon, Cyborg and Kid Flash have the greatest tech and the fastest mind on the planet. However, Batman is there simply because... he's Batman.

This scene is as funny as it is epic, and a cure is indeed found, motivating the heroes to begin work on getting it mass produced to finally save the world from the Anti-Life Equation. However, they could be running out of time to administer said cure, as Penguin and Dr. Ivo have built an army of Amazos to wipe out all the un-living. Not only that, but Trigon has emerged from the depths of Hell, displeased that he's been cheated out of his usual influx of souls, and has already destroyed all of Paris.

While the odds are now stacked against the heroes as DCeased: Dead Planet continues, the fact that a cure was able to be formed out of Cyborg's blood is a pretty impressive feat, especially considering the sheer levels of intelligence and expertise that come together as one to create it in this issue... including Batman's. While being Batman implies high levels of qualification and expertise which he no doubt used to help, it's extremely satisfying and hilarious that the mere name is enough for people to understand without any further explanation, both in the DC Universe by other heroes and outside of it from fans.
