Disney Princes: 10 Examples Of Cosplay That Made Us Do A Double Take

Comic conventions, themed parties, artistic expressions, Halloween events, amusement parks… All of these and more allow for people to dress up as and interact with their favorite characters. And when it comes to costumes and cosplays, many prefer to go the Disney route, as there are so many classics worth recreating and honoring.

For instance, the princes in Disney movies help make these magical stories complete… and the people down below who dressed up as these princes made us do a double-take! The ensembles, the facial expressions, the accessories, and the physical characteristics have come together for spot-on impersonations.

10 Prince Eric, Emperor Kuzco & Flynn Rider

First up is J Stryker, who made the news (such as being written about on Digital Spy), due to his many Disney prince costumes. He looked sweet like Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid.

He went all out with Kuzco’s ensemble from The Emperor's New Groove. And he definitely has Flynn Rider down. Plus, he could probably easily do The Smolder, too, as featured in Tangled

9 The Beast

Putting on a detailed garment can certainly help transform a person into a character. However, many cosplays require a little more work than that. Just look at this example from whereisfabrice on Reddit.

The Beast, a main character in Beauty and the Beast, is big and furry for most of his film. So makeup, hair, and horns were needed to create this mind-blowing costume!

8 Simba

Another iconic and royal animal from Disney would be Simba. During a very memorable scene in The Lion KingRafiki holds this baby cub up, for all the other creatures and wildlife to see.

This moment was replicated by Colin and his puppy, and then, thank goodness, it was posted on Costume Works. Adding a pet into the mix is always a smart idea.

7 John Smith

Next up is a photograph from World Cosplay, which shows off Pocahontas and John Smith. This one is simple yet effective, and those looking to dress up as a favorite character can learn a lot.

First, make sure the outfit is at least the same color and style, and try to copy as many accessories and accents as possible, such as John Smith’s recognizable hat. Then, utilize physical traits (whether they be fake or real) to seal the deal, as this person did with their shaggy blonde hair.

6 Shang Li

Another notable Disney character is Shang Li from Mulan, and someone else who dressed up as him shared their work of art on Flickr.

The star of the story is included, too, making this a great couple's costume idea. These clothing items are incredible, with all their fine details, and this all deserves recognition and celebration!

5 Aladdin

Also on Reddit, joseart posted a cosplay by MegaChromatic… a cosplay of everyone’s favorite street rat, Aladdin.

This is another fairly easy outfit to copy, with the white pants, purple vest, and red hat. What sets this one apart from many others, though, would be the spot-on hair and the cute little addition of Abu.

4 Prince Phillip

Reddit is a great place to share costumes, and up next is one from leobanecosplay and by Dragoon Cos'.

For those who don’t know, this is Prince Phillip, the love interest in Sleeping Beauty. He is one of the most classic Disney princes, as he was introduced many years ago, instantly fell in love with a leading lady, saved the day, and has that super dashing look about him.

3 Hercules

Someone else who could be fun to dress up as from the world of Disney is Hercules. That is exactly what was done by Leobane Cosplay and shared to Pinterest.

From top to bottom, this is wonderful, with the wavy/red hair, brown leather accents, and, of course, those muscles. Sure, a non-muscular person could recreate this look, as well, but this example is really pulling it all off quite well!

2 Prince Naveen, Prince Charming & Prince Phillip

Imagine if Prince Naveen, Prince Charming, and Prince Phillip all hung out… Well, they sort of are here, in this image from Disney Cosplay and from Pinterest.

Notice how their hairstyles, their elaborate costumes, and their expressions are all doing their part to make these looks come to life. It is so good.

1 Prince Charming

Last but certainly not least is a prince costume that was posted to a blog called Make It & Love It. While the princes in Disney flicks are a bit older, they don’t get much more adorable than this!

Teaching a child to be charming is a good idea. Allowing kiddos to express themselves through a fun costume is neat. And sharing an image as darling as this one is so appreciated. You can clearly see both the effort that went into making the costume a reality and the joy that it brings to the child wearing it.
