Titans Star Doesn't Think DC TV Show Should Crossover With Movies

Brenton Thwaites, star of DC Universe's Titans, has expressed that he doesn't feel the series should crossover with the film side of DC. Titans premiered on DC Universe's streaming platform in 2018, where it debuted to solid reviews from critics and fans alike. The series has become one of the streaming service's most popular shows, which include the likes of Harley Quinn, Doom Patrol, and Stargirl, the latter of which will be headed to the CW for season 2.

Titans follows a team of young superheroes who battle evil forces and other threats that put humanity in peril. The team consists of a wide variety of heroes, including Thwaites' Dick Grayson/Robin/Nightwing, Kory Anders/Koriand'r/Starfire (Anna Diop), Garfield Logan/Beast Boy (Ryan Potter), Rachel Roth/Raven (Teagan Croft), Hank Hall/Hawk (Alan Ritchson), and Dawn Granger/Dove (Minka Kelly). Season 2 brought fans a Titans 2.0 team, including new members Jason Todd/Robin (Curran Walters) and Wonder Girl/Donna Troy (Conor Leslie). Since the show isn't afraid to incorporate a wide array of DC heroes and villains, fans have wondered about the possibility of Robert Pattinson's Batman meeting Thwaites' Nightwing.

In an interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Brenton Thwaites weighed in on the possibility of Nightwing crossing paths with characters in DC films, specifically Robert Pattinson's Batman. Unfortunately, Thwaites didn't say much to give fans hope of the characters meeting. When asked if the two could come into contact with one another in the future, he stated, "I think the DC TV and movie worlds are still quite separate." He goes on to say, "This might be a chance for Matt Reeves, the director, and DC Films to integrate that somehow. I would love to do it, but I don't think Titans is that property."

While the DC television and film universes have remained mostly separate from one other, the possibility of one of DC's most popular film heroes making an appearance on one of their shows isn't entirely out of the realm of possibility. In fact, during the CW's massive superhero crossover television event, Crisis On Infinite Earths, Ezra Miller's The Flash crossed paths with Grant Gustin's version of the character, leading to one of the special's most talked-about moments. The special even featured Brandon Routh's Superman, who last appeared in Superman Returns, and played a significant role in the crossover.

While the DC television shows and films have different, distinct tones, it's always an exciting prospect to see some of DC's most popular film characters make the leap into some of their most beloved series. While it would be great to see Pattinson's Bruce Wayne crossover with the series, it's difficult to discern if the tone of his character would mesh well with that of the show since The Batman won't be hitting theaters until October 2021. However, Thwaites' honesty about the prospect is admirable, clearly trying not to get fans' hopes up and manage their expectations. Regardless, fans can rewatch the first two seasons of Titans as they wait patiently for season 3 of the hit series.
