Breath Of The Wild's Link Joins Attack on Titan Universe In Fan Art

Imagine a crossover between The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Attack on Titan. We can now thanks to imaginative fan art superimposing Link in the latter’s universe. Breath of the Wild has coasted on its success since its release in 2017, maintaining its position as one of the most popular Nintendo titles of all-time. The entry sported post-game activities and featured cooking recipes to give Link temporary buffs and other intricate designs and a sequel is on the way.

The Attack on Titan anime debuted in 2013. Seasons two and three, however, did not air until April to June 2017 and June 2018 to July 2019, respectively. Its fourth season recently received a trailer, revealing information regarding the franchise’s grand finale. The trailer did not, however, indicate whether or not season four would resolve some unanswered questions, such as whether any of the main characters will die or where the location of the Ninth Titan is.

Bridging the universes between Breath of the Wild and Attack on Titan, Reddit user "nekomichi" posted artwork showcasing Link in the latter’s universe. The image - created three years ago but never shared - heralds the general ominous theme of Attack on Titan, with colossal monoliths poised over a devastated city while the iconic savior of Hyrule stares back with his sword drawn, quiver on his back, and shield in his other hand ready to fight. Flames lick toward the sky – a sky that is dark and cloudy and specked with embers.

One commenter dubbed the crossover Attack on Hyrule, while another responded with Attack on Ganon – the primary antagonist in The Legend of Zelda series. Fans who have commented on the image itself have offered their appreciation of its quality and the subjects involved, such as one user’s comment, “Oh wow two of one of my favorite things combined.”

Video game and anime fans have something in common: their passion for the franchises they follow. When cool crossovers occur - whether they exist as a fan creation, a dream, or an official manifestation – between two of their most popular universes, their excitement tends to echo across the far reaches of the internet. These ripples reach like-minded people and strengthen gaming and anime communities, bringing them together to share in their favorite aspects of their beloved worlds. All it takes as a spark, such as a piece of wonderful fan art, to make these connections blossom.
