Kevin Conroy To Voice Batman in Animated Series Comic Sequel (LIVE!)

Anyone who grew up watching  Batman: The Animated Series knows the work of iconic voice actor Kevin Conroy, and they'll soon be able to hear his take on The Caped Crusader once again, when he delivers a live dramatic reading of Batman: The Adventures Continue Chapter One. The actor has portrayed Batman more times than any actor, and across more mediums as well. With this, he'll now be able to add a livestream performance to his list of credits.

The digital-first comic, written by Alan Burnett and Paul Dini, takes place in the same continuity as the acclaimed cartoon series, which ran from 1992-1995. Burnett and Dini were producers on the show, which not only introduced us to Conroy as The Caped Crusader, but also to Mark Hamill's Joker and now iconic characters like Harley Quinn. Ty Templeton did the art for the book and Monica Kubina the color, with the issue's cover art coming courtesy of Dave Johnson.

Anyone who wants to join in to hear the Batman of their youth can visit DC's Instagram tomorrow, April 9, at 10 AM PST (1 PM EST) to view the stream. Fans can download the first issue of the new series for $0.99 and follow along with the dramatic reading as Conroy (or at least his voice) once again confronts the various rogues and villains of Gotham City. All episodes of Batman: The Animated Series are currently available, remastered and in high definition, on the DC Universe streaming service.

Besides his run on the Emmy Award-winning animated series, fans would recognize Conroy's voice from the animated movie Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, the Arkham series of video games, as well as a slew of various Batman, Justice League and other DC Universe cartoons. Not long ago he reprised the role for the animated adaptation of Alan Moore's seminal book Batman: The Killing JokeRecently, Conroy finally got the chance to play the role in live action in The CW's epic Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event.

Considering it may be a while before hard copies of any new comics are available, on account of Diamond Distributors - the largest comic distributor in the country - having temporarily halted deliveries out of fear of spreading COVID-19, this makes for a fun and unique way for fans to dive into DC's digital offerings. And it will be a pure shot of nostalgia for any fans that grew up with the show. The first issue of Batman: The Adventures Continue is currently available, with the second chapter scheduled to be released April 15th.
