Clone Wars Season 7's Episodes Are Crucial To Understanding Skywalker Saga

The final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be vital to understanding the Skywalker saga. The final episodes of season seven reportedly have a direct connection to the events that happen in the Star Wars films. Star Wars: The Clone Wars is an animated series canonically placed between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. It follows Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Padawan Ahsoka Tano as they battle forces who oppose the Republic and the Jedi Order.

The Clone Wars originally aired on Cartoon Network for five seasons. Netflix provided the show's sixth season, dubbed "The Lost Missions." It was announced that the series would return for its seventh and final season on Disney+. First appearing in The Clone Wars animated movie, Ahsoka Tano has become a fan favorite. The show focused more on her later in the series, with the final episodes of season five centering around her being framed for murder and her eventual departure from the Jedi Order. For the last season of The Clone Wars, viewers will get to see the aftermath of her decision.

In an interview with Comicbook.com, Ashley Eckstein, the voice of Ahsoka Tano, emphasized the importance of the final episodes of the series. Without providing any spoilers, she describes the final episodes as "some of the best Star Wars that's ever been made" and isn't surprised that fans are anticipating the upcoming "Siege of Mandalore" arc as much as they have. "Everyone brought their A-game, everyone brought their best to these episodes, and they're truly mind-blowing, and I think they're gonna be essential viewing moving forward - especially as part of the films from Episode II to Episode III." The Siege of Mandalore is one of the last battles before the infamous Order 66 occurs in Episode III, and Eckstein claims that these final episodes are necessary to understand what happens in the Skywalker saga.

The Siege of Mandalore is rumored to set up Ahsoka Tano's eventual appearance in another Star Wars series, The Mandalorian. Ahsoka will make her live-action debut in season two of The Mandalorian, played by Rosario Dawson. Fans have wondered how and why the bounty hunter and former Jedi will cross paths. The Mandalorian might have been a child living on Mandalore during the siege, so it is possible that both Ahsoka and Mando experienced the battle, just from different perspectives.

The final episodes of The Clone Wars could also affect our understanding of other Star Wars properties. Ahsoka appears in the animated series Star Wars Rebels, which takes place years after Revenge of the Sith but before A New Hope. We could find out what Ashoka's been up to since the fall of the Republic. Due to her work with the rebels, she could have interacted with the rebel spy Cassian Andor, prompting an appearance in his standalone show. Whatever the case may be, Star Wars: The Clone Wars is set to have an ending of epic proportions.
