Bob’s Burgers: 5 Reasons Why Jimmy Junior Isn’t A Good Crush For Tina (& 5 Why He's A Perfect Match)

Romance is never easy. Getting your crush to like you can be a challenge, especially when you're a teenage girl. No one would know this better than Tina Belcher (Dan Mitz) from the animated show Bob's Burgers. Tina is growing up and becoming a woman and that means becoming boy crazy.

Throughout the show, Tina has one main crush and it happens to be Jimmy Junior (H.Jon Benjamin), the son of Bob's arch enemy, Jimmy Pesto (Jay Johnston). Jimmy Junior has proved to be a worthwhile crush for Tina. On the other hand, Jimmy Junior has done some pretty mean things to her that can have fans rooting for anyone else. Here are five reasons why Jimmy Junior was meant for Tina and five reasons why she should crush on someone who would treat her better.

10 Bad: Rejects Her Romantic Moments

In season one, episode nine titled "Spaghetti Western & Meatballs", Tina is set to perform a skit at the conflict resolution fundraising dinner. Tina, Jocelyn (John Roberts) and Jimmy Junior have to act out their ABS, a three-step conflict resolution method.

Tina gets in over her head and starts to believes that Jocelyn does have issues with Tina. Tina sees Jocelyn whispering with Jimmy Junior and attacks her screaming, "I warned you, skank." By the end of the episode when everything is resolved, Tina tries to get Jimmy Junior to do the scene from Lady and the Tramp with a plate of spaghetti. He very quickly looks disturbed at the idea and leaves Tina sulking.

9 Good: Is Dying To Go To Tina's Birthday Party

In the show's first season, the episode "Sheesh! Cab, Bob?" Bob shows how far he would go to make his kids happy, even if it means bargaining with Jimmy Pesto. Tina's 13th birthday is coming up and she wants a special party. Bob is working late shifts as a cab driver to make money, but there's one problem. Jimmy Pesto refuses to let Jimmy Junior attend.

This puts a damper on Tina's mood and Jimmy Junior clearly wants to go. He looks longingly from his father's restaurant at Tina. By the end, Bob gets his way and Jimmy Junior goes to the party. He and Tina share their first kiss under the disco ball.

8 Bad: Only Liked Tina As An AI

Bob's Burgers is aware of the technological times and it shows in the episode "Ex Mach Tina." Tina hurts her ankle and is chosen to test put a new remote-presence robot that allows her to attend class while at home. One day she gets stuck in the AV closet. Jimmy Junior finds her and they start talking and having real one-on-one bonding time.

The problem? Jimmy Junior only likes talking to Tina as long as she is using the robot. He then asks Tina out to the school bonfire but makes it clear he is asking robot-Tina, not the physical Tina. Jimmy Junior evens tries to kiss Tina through the screen. It seems superficial of Jimmy Junior to do.

7 Good: Jimmy Wants Tina Included In Group Outings

When you crush on someone, it's the little things that can get your heart fluttering. In the fourth episode of season ten, "Pig Trouble in Little Tina", the usual group of friends are planning a trip to the haunted hayrides for Halloween. The plans were already set and done when Tina becomes aware of them.

This is where Jimmy Junior does something that is sweet and makes Tina feel wanted. After discussing the outing, Jimmy Junior asks Jocelyn if Tina could join them. He didn't want her to be left out. It also allowed for a scary night smooch on the hayride. It does beg the question, why wasn't Tina included in the first place? When it comes to Jimmy Junior it's the little things that get Tina.

6 Bad: He Undermines Her Help

Fans of the show would say that Jimmy Junior can be a bit harsh on Tina and her feelings towards him. This rings true in the episode "Presto Tina-o." There's a magic festival in town and kids from Wagstaff are allowed to participate in a magic contest for a grand prize. Jimmy Junior enters the contest and Tina convinces him to let her become his assistant.

Tina realizes that Jimmy Junior's act is more dance than magic. He completely disregards Tina in the room and does his own things. When Tina tries to give Jimmy Junior advice on his routine, he becomes annoyed. He and Zeke (Bobby Tisdale) make fun of Tina and ends up firing her. Tina later finds out that Jimmy Junior replaced her with her frenemy, Tammy (Jenny Slate). So not cool.

5 Good: With Love, From Jimmy Jr.

Valentine's Day is the one day a year where you wonder if your crush will send you a flower or card to show their interest. In the episode, "My Fuzzy Valentine", Tina is afraid to go to school because of last years St.Valentine disaster. Jimmy Jr. gave her a Valentine's card saying "From, Jimmy Jr." Poor Tina was devastated.

This time, Jimmy Junior upped his game. While Tina did her best to avoid him, Jimmy Jr. made her dream come true. He went out of his way to see her at the restaurant to give her her homework and a card saying " 'heart', Jimmy Jr."

4 Bad: The Soft Maybe

Any fan who has seen the episode "Two for Tina", would have felt the same distaste towards Jimmy Junior. The school dance is coming up and Tina takes the leap to ask out her crush, Jimmy Junior. He gives her a brutal answer of a "maybe." He tells Tina he wants to see who asks him and weigh out his options. Ouch.

Later on in the episode, Tina asks him a follow up to his answer. Jimmy Junior tells her that she's pressuring him and that most guys don't like that. He only becomes interested when Tina tells him she'll go to the dance with another boy, Josh (Ben Schwartz).

3 Good: A Rose For Tina

Valentine's Day can be rough when you're a teenager. You wonder if anyone will send you a candy gram or a carnation. This becomes Tina's main quarrel in the episode "The Gene and Courtney Show." Tina is in charge of the Valentine's Day fundraiser and collects people's cards and money to send a carnation.

Tina becomes distraught when Jimmy Junior. never stops to put in money for a carnation. She becomes irrational when she rips open the cards to see who will receive a carnation and finds out she doesn't receive one. On the dreaded day, she hands out flowers upset. Later on, Jimmy Junior finds Tina to give her a red rose instead of a carnation. His excuse? She was always at the collection table and didn't want to ruin the surprise.

2 Bad: Valentine's Day Dumping

"V For Valentine-detta" is the lowest of the low when it comes to why Jimmy Junior isn't a good choice for Tina. In another Valentine's Day episode, Tina made a special picture frame and gave it to Jimmy Junior.  Things turn rotten as Tina is dumped by Jimmy Junior so he can go on a date with a girl named Becky (Minty Lewis).

To make matters worse, he uses the picture frame gifted by Tina to give as a gift to Becky. When Tina tries to foil their date, Jimmy Junior tells Becky he wasn't feeling a connection. Hee only asked her out because she got rid of her braces. He then asks Tina if she wants to go out. What a jerk!

1 Good: Embarrassed Of What Tina Would Think

This is one of the rare episodes where we see Jimmy Junior being bashful of his feelings towards Tina. In "Every Which Way but Goose" Tina is upset after not being asked by Jimmy Junior to the eighth-grade dance. Not to mention it's zombie-themed, Tina's dream come true. She forms an unhealthy relationship with a goose in the park.

During the dance, Gene (Eugene Mirman) and Louise (Kristen Schaal) find out why Jimmy Junior didn't ask Tina. While dancing, he injured his buttocks. He felt embarrassed about what Tina would think of his injury and not being able to dance with her. He later sacrifices himself to save the trapped goose.
