The King's Man Trailer Unveils The Spy Agency's Original Members

The second trailer for Walt Disney Studios and 20th Century Fox's The King's Man shows the spy organization at war. Even though Fox is now part of Disney after the recent acquisition, one of their franchises that are still getting another installment soon is Kingsman. Based on the Mark Millar comics, director Matthew Vaughn successfully brought them to the big screen a few years ago. Kingsman: The Secret Service was a surprise hit, prompting Fox to move forward with bigger plans for the franchise.

Even though Kingsman: The Golden Circle wasn't as big of a hit as many expected in 2017, Vaughn still made progress on making this franchise its own universe. The first step in that process is The King's Man, which will transport viewers back in time to tell the origins of the secret organization. Only one trailer has been released for the prequel previously, but with the February release date approaching, Disney and Fox have just debuted another.

Premiering as a shorter version debuted on Sunday Night Football, 20th Century Fox shared the full second trailer for The King's Man online shortly after. The trailer highlights Ralph Fiennes' Duke of Oxford and Harris Dickinson's Conrad in action, as well as the threat posed by Grigori Rasputin (Rhys Ifans). Fox also debuted a brand new poster for The King's Man, which can be seen below the new trailer.

Just like the first trailer and the prior films in the Kingsman franchise, this new trailer for The King's Man is filled with Vaughn's usual style and action. The footage teases plenty of big set pieces and slick action from Vaughn's direction. He's already delivered very memorable moments like the church fight or finale of Kingsman, so there is reason to believe that Vaughn can deliver some similarly dazzling sequences. Vaughn's style will not be the only familiar element to audiences invested in this series though.

The King's Man will have a similar mentor/mentee relationship between Fiennes and Dickinson as Colin Firth and Taron Egerton had in the previous installments. Their bond is not as clearly focused on in this trailer though, as The King's Man marketing campaign highlights the other characters - like Djimon Hounsou and Gemma Arterton's roles - who will be part of the team too. They'll be involved in the World War I set fight against Rasputin and his army, whose plans are otherwise not defined here. With more footage potentially on the way before next year, The King's Man could reveal more of the story soon.
