A deleted scene from Venom: Let There Be Carnage reveals what happened to Eddie's chickens. Tom Hardy made his debut as Eddie Brock, an investigative journalist who becomes host to the titular alien symbiote, in 2018's Venom. After that movie vastly exceeded expectations at the box office with an $856 million worldwide gross, Sony followed up it with Venom: Let There Be Carnage which was released in theaters this past October.
Set a year after Eddie interviews Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson) on death row, the Andy Serkis-directed sequel eventually sees the convicted serial killer consume some of the journalist's blood while visiting him, causing Cletus to also become host to a symbiote, this one called Carnage. After breaking free from prison, Cletus reunites with his former lover, Frances Barrison (Naomie Harris), who is better known as Shriek due to her ability to manipulate sound energy with her screams. Let There Be Carnage also stars Michelle Williams, Reid Scott, and Stephen Graham.
Now, Collider has exclusively obtained a deleted scene from Venom: Let There Be Carnage that reveals the fate of Eddie's chickens, Sonny and Cher. In the film, Eddie originally brings the chickens home to help satiate Venom's desire for human flesh. Though, after growing fond of the chickens, Eddie and Venom decide to keep them as pets and name them after the popular music duo. In a solemn deleted scene set after he momentarily splits up with Venom, Eddie is seen repairing his apartment and dropping off his feathery friends in the park, telling them "it was never gonna work out.” Watch the deleted scene below:

After multiple delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Venom: Let There Be Carnage debuted in theaters in October and very much like its predecessor, took the box office by storm. Venom 2 still stands as the highest-grossing opening weekend of the pandemic era at $90 million, topping the record previously held by Black Widow. Venom 2 has received mixed reviews from critics, though generally better than its critically-panned predecessor.
One of the reasons Venom 2 performed so well at the box office was its exciting post-credits scene which saw Eddie and Venom transported to another dimension inhabited by Tom Holland's Spider-Man. While fans will have to wait to see that anticipated crossover come to fruition (possibly in Spider-Man: No Way Home), they can enjoy deleted scenes like this one until all the movie's special features are unveiled when Venom: Let There Be Carnage is released on Blu-ray on December 14.
