The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip was the spinoff The Real Housewives fans needed. Getting women from different Housewives cities and putting them under one roof to see how they react was reality TV gold. With two women from New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, and one from Beverly Hills, RHUGT had laughter, drama, and tears.
Unsurprisingly, most of the drama revolved around RHONY's Ramona Singer. Ramona is known for putting her foot in her mouth and making things about her. The difference between RHUGT and her own franchise is that the women on RHUGT refused to put up with her nonsense. For seven episodes, Ramona had some imperfect moments.
In one of the first scenes of RHUGT, the women are on a private jet flying to Turks and Caicos. Everyone is getting to know each other and treading lightly to make a good first impression. But when the topic of flirting came up, Ramona's words jumbled, making it seem like she was flirting with men while she was married.
When Kenya called her out on it, Ramona called her a b**ch. It was not one of Ramona's best quotes or moments. Kenya took Ramona's insult to heart and put her in her place. Ramona apologized for her remark but the apology wasn't authentic.
During Kenya's time on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, the one person that she continuously bumped heads with was Porsha. The two had some of the best fights in The Real Housewives history. However, on RHUGT, the Housewives didn't know each other all that well, so some Googled each other to learn more. One of the things that Ramona learned about Kenya is her ongoing feud with Porsha.
Oddly enough, instead of calling Kenya by her name, Ramona kept calling her Porsha. Considering Porsha wasn't even on the trip, it was weird that Ramona kept calling her the wrong name. Many Housewives and fans felt like Ramona was being intentional and calling Kenya the wrong name as a way to stir the pot.
Many RHONY fans felt like Luann's marriage to Tom was one of her most shocking decisions because of how many red flags there were surrounding their relationship. There was infidelity before the two even got married.
The Housewives that aren't RHONY didn't know about Luann's toxic relationship and asked her more questions about it. Ramona felt it was necessary to add her two cents to the conversation and told everyone that Luann slept with Tom on the first date, and it was because of that reason that the two didn't work out... Luann was disgusted that Ramona felt the nerve to tell everyone about her sex life and wanted nothing to do with her throughout the day.
On The Real Housewives, some women had personal glam squads join them on trips while others did their hair and makeup by themselves. It appeared to be the same on RHUGT. Housewives like Ramona, Kenya, Cynthia, and Luann were all seen getting their appearance taken care of for them.
In one episode, Ramona was clearly too drunk to realize how rude she was being. While her glam squad was upstairs waiting for her, she was downstairs eating food and looking for her phone — completely ignoring the time commitment of the stylist and makeup artist. Because of Ramona's tardiness and miscommunication with the artists, Cynthia's time with the same glam squad was affected. Cynthia felt disrespected and felt bad that Ramona treated the glam squad so poorly. It was one of Ramona's worst times on RHUGT.
In a strange turn of events, Ramona ended up knowing a local restaurant owner, John, on the island they were at. They arranged to have dinner at his restaurant and Ramona was acting like it was a potential date. All the women could tell Ramona liked John and wanted to make a good impression, but at the same time, it seemed like she was there to be with John — not necessarily the other Housewives.
With this show being the Ultimate Girls Trip, Ramona was more interested in going on a date than surrounding herself with new friends from the franchise. Considering RHONY fans know man-crazy Ramona is, this wasn't one of Ramona's most shocking decisions, but it didn't look good.
John didn't just show up in one episode, he showed up again when he held a beach dinner at his house. Although it was John's party and home, Ramona acted as the co-host and acted differently. All of the women who didn't know Ramona well felt like she was putting on an act just to make a good impression.
When John asked how the trip was going and how much he enjoyed there being no drama, Kenya let him know who Ramona really was. She told him all about how poorly Ramona treated Luann and that she called her a b**ch. Ramona was mortified at what Kenya was saying and was trying to change the subject instead of taking accountability for her actions and apologizing.
Before the women arrived at their Turks & Caicos mansion, they were introduced to their concierge, Michael. Michael and his family lived on the island and were happy to host them during their stay. He took care of scheduling, cleaning, planning, transportation — everything. All of the women respected Micahel's time... but then there's Ramona.
Ramona's classic Ramona-isms include calling people by the wrong names, but she was plain rude to Michael. In the final episode of RHUGT, Michael stopped by Ramona's room and she called him William. Michael corrected her (after a week of knowing her) but instead of apologizing, she justified her action by saying she thought he was a "William" because he was so proper.
Fans were reminded of Ramona's poor manners when the women first arrived at the house. As Michael was showing them the property, Ramona left the group to scope out the bedrooms. Once she found the best one, she jump in bed and put her feet under the covers to claim it.
When the women found her, they were bothered by her elitist attitude. She claimed she deserved the best bedroom because her "fans" felt like she deserved it.
Luann told a few of the women about her former marriage and how its demise made her the woman she is today. After her divorce, she went to rehab, got sober, and created a better relationship with her kids.
While Luann was telling her dark story, everyone was engaged and sympathizing with her. Suddenly, Ramona got up and left the table. Everyone wondered why Ramona rudely left in the middle of Luann's story, but she claimed it was because she had already heard the story and didn't need to hear it again. She then justified her actions because she needed to grab her friend's product to promote it on TV. It was hard for fans to support Ramona on this trip.
Aside from cursing at Kenya, there was another memorable moment of Ramona on the plane to the island. Ramona claimed that RHONY put The Real Housewives on the map. And if it wasn't for the OGs of New York, the other women wouldn't have careers.
Everyone was shocked by her words and disagreed wholeheartedly. Luann said it best when she said, "It's like saying, 'because of me, you're here right now,' which is not a good way to start."
