Hawkeye FINALLY Hijacks Green Arrow's Best Trick Arrow in Comic Cover

Warning: Contains minor spoilers for Hawkeye: Kate Bishop #3!

For years, fans have drawn comparisons between Hawkeye and Green Arrow and they've also wanted to see an infamous DC trick arrow appear in Marvel Comics which has finally happened on Hawkeye: Kate Bishop #3's cover.

Hawkeye: Kate Bishop released its first issue in November and the third issue in the miniseries will arrive in January. As the title suggests, it focuses on the newest adventure of Clint Barton's ward, Kate Bishop. The main cover for this upcoming issue has shown a surprising trick arrow as the purple-clad heroine faces a mob.

Hawkeye: Kate Bishop #3 has the creative team of Marieke Nijkamp, OREN JUNIOR, Brittany Peer, and Enid Balam. The cover is illustrated by Jahnoy Lindsay. This art shows Kate Bishop up against a massive mob and all she has is her bow, with which she has shot a boxing glove arrow—a trick arrow DC fans are very familiar with thanks to Green Arrow. It may not be the most effective trick arrow in either archer's arsenal, but it is definitely one of the most fun.

The boxing glove arrow has finally crossed comic universes and found its way into Hawkeye's quiver. This arrow is well-known despite having a rather low level of long-term efficacy. It is best used against a single opponent and is frequently used in a humorous manner. Kate's use of it here is definitely not the best move she could have made in terms of strategy, since Kate is up against so many enemies. However, its lack of lethality may be perfect since this mob consists of normal people, not villains (according to the issue's synopsis). It can knock foes out, but she'll need far more than a single arrow to K.O. this entire crowd.

Green Arrow's boxing glove trick arrow has appeared occasionally over the years. Its origin was revealed this past year in Green Arrow 80th Anniversary Special #1. This arrow can be shot at least twenty feet away, which makes it a great distance tactic. The way Oliver Queen first thought of it was revealed in the story "Punching Evil," from the creative team of Tom Taylor, Nicola Scott, Annette Kwok, and Clayton Cowles. The boxing glove arrow was one of many trick weapons from Green Arrow's Golden Age and it even appeared in an episode of Arrow. Now, the arrow has finally made its way to the Marvel Comics universe. The only question that remains is will it be in the official issue, or is it simply a trick Kate is playing on comic archery afficionados? Fans can find out the extent of this arrow's presence when Kate Bishop: Hawkeye #3 releases on January 12.
