Channing Tatum asked The Lost City of D castmate Sandra Bullock if she'd like to be in Magic Mike 3. Bullock and Tatum star opposite each other in the upcoming romantic comedy, which follows a Romancing the Stone type plot. Directed by Aaron and Adam Nee, the creators of the indie films The Last Romantic and Band of Robbers, principal filming wrapped in August of 2021.
Tatum and Bullock are bankable talents in their own right, making the pairing a match made in box office heaven. After stepping into the spotlight with 1994 blockbuster Speed, Bullock racked up a long history of leading parts. Rom-com While You Were Sleeping was the first to establish her as the powerhouse leading lady audiences love. Meanwhile, Tatum went from stripping at a real-life nightclub to lighting up the big screen in the runaway hit Magic Mike. On the heels of the third installment being announced, Tatum's new friend Bullock shares some sizzling news.
Bullock told ET that Tatum asked her to be in Magic Mike 3. The Oscar-winning talent joked that she wouldn't want to steal to show from Tatum, telling the publication:
"He's doing a lot of asking for me to come on board with my skills in the stripping world, which they're world renowned. I don't know if I wanna do it and take the attention away. Channing needs that moment, and if I step on stage, you know what's gonna happen, it's like, all eyes are gonna be on this. It's all gonna be on mama."
The Unforgivable star then added that she wouldn't actually take any eyes away from Tatum, just in her mind. While her comments were tongue in cheek, it did get fans excited at the prospect. Bullock herself is admittedly a fan of the fiery franchise. In 2015, she told Ellen DeGeneres that the trailer alone made her "ovulate." The project could also be a double reunion for the star who previously worked with Magic Mike actor Matthew McConaughey.
Tatum joined Warner Bros. in announcing Magic Mike's Last Dance on November 29. The star confirmed that director Steven Soderbergh and screenwriter Reid Carolin would also return by sharing an image of the threequel's script to social media. Soderbergh stated that seeing Magic Mike Live, an entertainment experience based on the hit franchise, inspired him to return to the story.
The odds that Bullock would appear in the third installment are slim to none. Fans will have to wait to see her and Tatum's chemistry in The Lost City of D, which will premiere in 2022. Boasting a star-studded cast, including Brad Pitt and Danielle Radcliffe, the project is sure to attract many viewers. If it's well-received, then perhaps the dazzling duo will appear together in a follow-up film. That is much more likely than seeing them share the screen in Magic Mike 3.
