RHONY: Kelly Bensimon Calls Bethenny An 'Attention Seeker' While Filming

The Real Housewives of New York City alum, Kelly Bensimon, took a jab at her former co-star, Bethenny Frankel, by saying she was an attention seeker during their time on the show. The former model took notes from Bethenny and "mentioned it all" in the new tell-all book, Not All Diamonds and Rosé: The Inside Story of the Real Housewives From the People Who Lived It. The book guides fans through the evolution of the Housewives franchise with stories told by cast members, producers, and even Andy Cohen.

You could call Kelly and Bethenny "frenemies" during their time together on The Real Housewives of New York City, but that would mean the two would be able to at least hold a conversation with each other. When the show kicked off the first season, Bethenny was the young and vibrant Housewife as she was 37-years-old (at the time), chasing after her cooking career and navigating her love life. Once Kelly stepped on the scene during season 2, a fight for the top "it girl" was broadcast for the viewers to see. The "Skinny Girl" once went to an event hosted at Kelly's house before being on RHONY together and claimed that the two officially met. When Kelly swore that she didn't recall meeting Bethenny, any chance at the two becoming friends was doomed. The never-ending feud was uncomfortable for everyone, even the viewers. During The Real Housewives of New York City, season 2, episode 7, "Kelly vs. Bethenny," Kelly invited her co-star for drinks just to reiterate that they were not friends and claimed to be of a higher level than Bethenny. Tensions grew thicker as the real estate agent accused Bethenny of "trying to kill her" multiple times during The Real Housewives of New York City, season 3, episode 12, "Sun, Sand and Psychosis."

Kelly still believes she is above Bethenny as she claims the Bravo alum was an attention seeker during their time on The Real Housewives of New York CityPEOPLE reported on the former reality star's current thoughts about Bethenny. "Bethenny was just looking for attention. She was so insecure. Remember, she was the old guard and I was the new, pretty, fun girl," Kelly said in the tell-all book. The 53-year-old believes that she was living the life that Bethenny was chasing after. When she entered the show, Kelly was a mother of two young children and says that Bethenny was envious of that. "There were just so many things about me that — and I don't like to use the word 'threatened' because I don't like it when women talk about each other in those kinds of terms — but she felt a certain way about me that I somehow became her nemesis, immediately," Kelly said.

Since Bethenny has recently removed herself from all things Housewives, she did not participate in the book. Her ex-best friend and The Real Housewives of New York City OG, Jill Zarin, shared what she knew about the ongoing Kelly vs. Bethenny feud. The 57-year-old confirmed that her former partner-in-crime "hated" Kelly after they met because she felt like Kelly dismissed her presence. "Then she got even more upset when they met again on the show and Kelly had no idea who she was. She didn't recall Bethenny being at her house," Jill said. She then insinuated that Bethenny held a grudge and was not nice to Kelly moving forward.

What the Kelly vs. Bethenny feud really comes down to is that there was one spot for the young "it" girl during their time on The Real Housewives of New York City and neither one was backing down from the crown. As years have passed, both have said some nasty things about one another, but Kelly seems to dwell on the past a bit too much. Bethenny is venturing into a new life away from the Housewives while Kelly is still open to returning to the show. So that right there tells fans who really wanted that "it" girl crown.
