The Halo Infinite Tenrai event is now officially underway, and a launch trailer shows off all the extra content that can be unlocked from now until the event ends on November 30. 343 Industries announced the Halo Infinite Fracture: Tenrai event not long after first revealing the game's multiplayer, with the primary focus being on the unlockable samurai-inspired Yoroi armor that comes free as part of the event pass.
Players were surprised when Xbox announced Halo Infinite's multiplayer would go live on November 16 in honor of the Halo franchise's 20th anniversary, but they wasted little time jumping into 343 Industries' latest entry in the series. Mere hours after the game launched, Halo Infinite broke the Xbox Game Studios record for concurrent players on Steam. This excitement was likely fueled by Halo Infinite's longer-than-normal development cycle, a troubled journey which saw 343 scrap its plans to release the game as an Xbox Series X/S launch title and delay the game to address complaints about the 2020 reveal's undercooked visuals. Now, 343 has launched Halo Infinite's first Fracture event, with plenty of stylish unlocks available for the rest of November.
A newly released Halo Infinite trailer for the Fracture: Tenrai event shows a pair of Spartans charging at each other in a samurai face-off. From there, the trailer shows off the free Yoroi Armor Core which can be unlocked as part of the Tenrai event's free 30-tier event pass, along with new premium cosmetics and the limited-time return of classic Halo game mode Fiesta. The Halo Infinite Tenrai event is scheduled to run from November 23 until November 30.
So far, Halo Infinite Season 1's microtransactions and customization system have proven to be divisive, as the game's Armor Cores are difficult to unlock without paying real-world money due to how slow battle pass progression is. Many have asserted they'd rather pay full price up-front and unlock things in-game rather than grind for cosmetics through the game's existing free-to-play model. These frustrations have been reinforced by recent leaks indicating even Halo Infinite's premium single-player campaign won't unlock any armor to use in multiplayer.
Despite the misgivings some Halo Infinite players have with the game’s cosmetic microtransactions, many are currently the title's classic Halo multiplayer gameplay, large-scale Big Team Battle matchups, and new equipment like the Grappleshot and Repulsor, which have allowed for some impressive and lucky Halo Infinite kills in the week since the game's free-to-play multiplayer component launched. The Halo Infinite Tenrai event will now define the title's second week, with 343 Industries promising more multiplayer events well after the single-player campaign finally releases on December 8.
Halo Infinite is available for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC, and it fully releases on December 8, 2021.
