The OG of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Vicki Gunvalson, recently split up with her fiancé, Steve Lodge, and viewers believe they know why. Vicki has not had the best of luck with men. Over the years, Bravo viewers have watched as Vicki molded herself to be whatever her boyfriend at the time wanted. Now Vicki is alone again and trying to pick up the pieces.
Vicki is not a stranger to controversy or fighting for love. During the first few seasons of The Real Housewives of Orange County, viewers watched her marriage to Donn Gunvalson come apart at the seams. After her marriage dissolved, she fell for and was played by a New Orleans con-artist, Brooks Ayers, which caused tension within her family. The ability to appreciate the spectacle is what kept her on The Real Housewives of Orange County for so long. However, Vicki was eventually demoted. For the most part, Vicki has been likable, so why do all her relationships continue to crash and burn?
News broke earlier this week that Vicki and Steve had gone their separate ways. In an Instagram post, Vicki shared a ripped picture of her and the former policeman. Bravo viewers have their own ideas of what caused their split, but the major hypothesis seems to be that once again, Vicki didn't have room in her life to commit to the relationship. While the former The Real Housewives of Orange County star claimed she gave it her all, fans are starting to wonder if she isn't the common denominator. Steve seemed like a pretty decent guy, so what went wrong?
A few fans have also speculated that Steve may have used Vicki to help him win the race for California governor in the recall election. While Steve lost by a landslide, he may have thought her reality TV connections would boost him. Vicki started dating Steve back in 2016 after meeting at a charity event. It only took three years for Steve to pop the question in April of 2019.
Vicki hasn't let the breakup get her down. She has shared updates of flying back to Chicago to see family. Vicki's son, Michael, also surprised her with a visit. When Vicki isn't messing her relationships up, she also likes to annoy her son-in-law by ruining special occasions like a gender reveal. Vicki just wrapped filming of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip and is said to have spoken about her break-up with Steve.
