Kit Harington's Dane Whitman encounters a Deviant for the first time in the newest trailer for Marvel Studios' Eternals. Eternals is the 26th movie in the MCU and the third film to release in its Phase 4 of movies and Disney+ original shows. It was originally going to release in 2020, but, like many other projects, was delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. After no releases last year, Marvel Studios is once again in full swing. Phase 4 is the most different one yet, and Eternals is just one of the many exciting new MCU entries coming.
Eternals follows a group of ancient beings created by a group known as the Celestials. These beings created the Eternals to head to Earth and protect its people from a group known as the Deviants. The Deviants are abnormal and ruthless creatures that are hellbent on harming humanity. The members that comprise the Eternals team are Ikaris (Richard Madden), Sersi (Gemma Chan), Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani),Thena (Angelina Jolie), Ajak (Salma Hayek) , Gilgamesh (Don Lee), Druig (Barry Keoghan), Sprite (Lia McHugh), Makkari (Lauren Ridloff), and Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry). Kit Harington plays Dane Whitman, a character that gets involved with the team and eventually becomes the Black Knight.
Now, a new trailer has been released for Eternals. Posted by Marvel Entertainment, the trailer shows off a new look at the Deviants through Dane Whitman's perspective. He is very surprised and confused by them, running away with Sersi and Sprite on the streets of London. The rest of the clip offers a better look at some of the Eternals' powers and different types of Deviants. Check out the full trailer below:
This new look at Eternals is sure to please fans of the characters. Dane Whitman, while present in the marketing, has not had much of a presence otherwise. This could mean that he does not appear too much in the movie or it could mean that Dane Whitman has a larger role that Marvel Studios does not want spoiled yet. This could potentially lead to Black Knight joining the large new roster of heroes that Phase 4 is setting up.
With the movie fast approaching, audiences will be excited to see what Marvel Studios has in store for Dane Whitman's character. His encounter with the Deviants in this new trailer will definitely set him on a new path, which could potentially see the rise of the Black Knight. Since he is also not a member of the Eternals, it will be interesting to see how he fits into the story. Fans will have to see what exactly Kit Harington's MCU debut is like when they check out Eternals.
