Animal Crossing Player Turns Island Into BOTW's Kakariko Village

A dedicated Animal Crossing: New Horizons player has shown their love for another Nintendo franchise by recreating Kakariko Village from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Both New Horizons and Breath of the Wild have become incredibly popular during their lifespans as they are not only some of the best-selling games on the Nintendo Switch but also some of the best-selling games of all time on any platform.

Much of what has made Animal Crossing: New Horizons maintain its popularity revolves around the game's ability to allow players to create almost anything they can imagine. Often times this results in players building structures or even scenes from other famous intellectual properties with other Nintendo titles cropping up frequently. Numerous Zelda inspired recreations have been made up to this point, including terraforming an entire island to make the Link to the Past map in Animal Crossing, and while the latest addition to that category may not be as extensive, it is still impressive.

Reddit user blxry posted multiple images of their interpretation of Kakariko Village from specifically Breath of the Wild. The series of pictures showcases multiple locations throughout the settlement, including a head-on view of the inlet that is at the center of town in Breath of the Wild. One display greatly resembles what is in the Zelda title, but there are still some elements that are clearly Animal Crossing such as the Dodo Airlines sign.

Though the iconic Zelda location has appeared in six separate titles throughout the series to date, current Animal Crossing players seem drawn to Kakariko Village from Breath of the Wild specifically as this is not the first recreation of that specific version. In fact, Breath of the Wild as a whole seems to be one of the most recreated Zelda titles in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This is likely due to a combination of how recent the latest Zelda installment is and its popularity.

The creativity on display in Nintendo's life simulator does not seem to be lessening the further we get from the game's launch in March of 2020, which is a testament to the quality of the title. As long as Animal Crossing: New Horizons remains popular, then we will likely continue to see numerous Zelda-inspired builds particularly from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild until Breath of the Wild 2 comes out and supplants it as the newest, non-remake entry in the series.
