10 The Simpsons Arcade Game (69)

The '90s were a brilliant age for side-scrolling beat-em-ups, especially for third-party properties like cartoons and movies. It seemed like everyone from Predator to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had an action-packed arcade game, and everyone's favorite family from Springfield was certainly no exception.

Playing as Homer, Marge, Bart, or Lisa, players had to fight their way through hordes of enemies to save Maggie from the clutches of Smithers and Mr. Burns. Simple yet effective—as all beat-em-up games should be—making it a solid choice to begin one's cartoon gaming binge.

9 Spongebob Squarepants: Battle For Bikini Bottom (71)

Spongebob has been a popular character for decades with several different video games to his name, but the fan-favorite certainly seems to be Battle For Bikini BottomAfter Plankton and his legion of robots take over Bikini Bottom, it's up to SpongeBob and his pals to overthrow the pint-sized terror.

8 DuckTales Remastered (75)

The original DuckTales title from Capcom was a smash hit for the NES, but it soon found a new generation of players when the remastered edition hit shelves. Not only did the remaster recreate the famous game with updated graphics and sprites, but many of the original cast members returned to reprise their roles.

Essentially the same classic game seen through different eyes, players who experienced this game were given a solid platformer with enough challenge and treasure to satisfy the richest duck in the world himself. It's easily a must-play classic video game for Disney fans.

7 The Lion King (77)

DuckTales wasn't the only '90s gem to find a home on modern video game consoles thanks to the Disney Classics Collection, new players got to experience a pair of treasured games from Disney's Renaissance. Seeing as it was the studio's most beloved feature at the time, of course The Lion King would have a video game adaptation.

Essentially following the events of the film, players stepped into the role of Simba, and, through some difficult yet creative platforming challenges, they were able to climb their way back to the top of Pride Rock to face off against Scar for the throne. Available for both SNES and Genesis, players have access to both versions to enjoy for varying ways of play.

6 Aladdin (77)

Now packaged along with The Lion King, the video game adaptation of Disney's Aladdin was another big name in the platforming genre, particularly for the Sega Genesis. Like the previously mentioned title, the plot follows the same one seen in the movie and is accompanied by impressive sprite work and catchy chiptune versions of songs from the film.

The Disney Classics Collection also features a more polished and modern re-release of the original title for a better gaming experience, and it's an excellent addition to the collection of retro games available for modern consoles.

5 Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu (79)

4 The Simpson’s Hit And Run (81)

If Grand Theft Auto is a bit too graphic, consider picking up The Simpsons: Hit and Run for a more comedic take on the action-packed driving motif. In no uncertain terms, the game is ridiculous, but that's to be expected in this fully realized virtual version of Springfield.

2 Kingdom Hearts (85)

The list would simply be incomplete without mentioning the JRPG that brought the best of Disney animation together with the gaming legends of Final FantasyA peculiar combination, to be sure, but one that has amassed one of the largest fan bases in gaming.

The idea of a Disney-themed JRPG might have sounded ludicrous back in the days of the PS2, but it ended up being one of the hits for the system, as well as spawning a legion of spinoffs and sequels. A little Disney magic goes a long way, after all.

1 Cuphead (88)
