The Seventh Samurai is one of the new World Quests in Genshin Impact, released in the game’s 2.0 update. The update added new content, including a new chain of islands known collectively as Inazuma. As the quest’s name suggests, Inazuma is inspired by feudal Japan.
Magic plays a major role in the world of Genshin Impact, but technology exists as well, including vintage cameras. Players will use one of these “kameras” to make a film during The Seventh Samurai quest. The quest’s name is a reference to the film Seven Samurai, directed by famed Japanese director Akira Kurosawa. Kurosawa’s influence is still felt in games like Ghost of Tsushima and other movies decades later. Here's how to complete The Seventh Samurai quest in Genshin Impact.
Players need to get to Inazuma before they can complete this quest. Inazuma is accessible after players finish the Archon Quest The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia. When they have made it to Inazuma, they will need to finish Tatara Tales: The Last Act first to unlock The Seventh Samurai quest.

To get to The Seventh Samurai quest, players need to find it on the beach of the big island just to the east of Inazuma City. They meet with Xavier the Great Inventor, who will be conversing with Toranosuke the Shogunate Officer.
Xavier is trying to finish a scene from his film “The Seventh Samurai,” and he needs the player to be the star. Players are treated to a section of the film script, which happens to be an action scene. When they are ready, the filming begins.
The quest gives the players one minute to defeat three bandits and move to three areas within the filming location, indicated by circles on the ground. Players cannot leave the recording area while the quest is active. It’s not the most difficult quest but managing to fulfill all objectives in such a limited timeframe can be challenging.
Luckily, players are still free to switch between characters and use all their attacks, so they can pull off their favorite devastating elemental combos to deal damage as quickly as possible. They fail if their party is defeated, if they leave the recording area, or if time runs out. Because they are technically filming a scene, players can restart if they fail.
Once this is done, players will speak to Xavier again to finish the quest. Upon completing the quest, players are rewarded with 20 Inazuma Reputation, redeemed through Madarame Hyakubei.
Genshin Impact is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Android, and iOS.
