On Monday, the Hollywood Reporter revealed writer Scott Snyder's Best Jackett Press has agreed to an eight-book deal with Amazon to create eight new creator-owned titles for ComiXology. The books, which feature some of the most popular creators in the industry, will appear on the online comic platform before later appearing in physical print under the Dark Horse Comics umbrella.
Snyder is best known for penning some of DC Comics' best modern stories, including his Batman arc during the New 52 Era, as well as the Death Metal saga for the publisher. Snyder also released a handful of creator-owned books in the horror genre, including the popular American Vampire and Wytches, and Severed. Snyder's creative studio, Best Jacket Press has already released Nocterra from Image Comics, but now it's about to seriously expand.
Best Jackett Press released a video showcasing the new books being published as part of the agreement with ComiXology and Amazon.
Here's the eight books revealed by the Hollywood Reporter. Snyder, Tula Lotay, and Dee Cunliffe are the team behind Brainstormers, an adventure romance set after the First World War.
Next up, Snyder teams up with Francis Manapul for Clear, a "sci-fi mystery thrill-ride" taking place in a dystopian future where reality is transformed due to people's neurological connection to the internet.
Duck and Cover will reteam Snyder with Rafael Albuquerque and Stout Club Entertainment (the creative team behind American Vampire) for Duck and Cover, a manga-inspired teen adventure in the mid-50s, post-apocalyptic adventure.
Dudley Datson and the Forever Machine will star a boy and his dog as they discover a machine that controls time and space itself. The comic will be written by Snyder, with art from Jamal Igle and Juan Castro, and colors by Chris Sotomayor.
One of the most exciting books sees Snyder working alongside Francesco Francavilla for Night of the Ghoul, a horror story taking place in both the present day, and in the middle of a "lost horror film."
We Have Demons will have Snyder working alongside Batman and Death Metal collaborators Greg Capullo and Jonathan Glapion, as well as Dave McCaig. The book features a battle between good and evil and a teenager's journey in discovering monsters, mayhem, and a secret society.
CANARY is Snyder and Dan Panosian about a mine collapsing and the mysterious substances found deep underground.
Lastly, The Book of Evil sees Snyder team up with his longtime collaborator Jock for a prose story about four friends growing up in a world where a majority of people born are psycopaths.
Readers will be able to access the Scott Snyder-penned comic books on ComiXology as part of their subscription service or can purchase them individually online. The first batch of the book will publish on a weekly basis starting in October.
