New Pokémon Card Game V Battle Decks Are Coming In October

The Pokémon Company has announced new Pokémon Trading Card Game V Battle Decks are coming this year, which will aim to help new trainers learn how to play the beloved card game. While Pokémon cards are often associated with collectability, rarity, and value, the Pokémon Trading Card Game has a thriving community of players, including fans of both the card game and its video game counterpart. Many people outside of that community don't know how to play the game, though.

Pokémon cards have increased in popularity over the last few years thanks to new releases, special edition cards, and a renewed interest in the classic game across the internet. Pokémon card unboxing videos on YouTube and Twitch have become an incredibly popular type of content, encouraging others to collect, trade, and play. Earlier this year, McDonald's and The Pokémon Company teamed up to release special edition Happy Meals complete with free card packs. The promotion was unfortunately plagued with both stock shortages and a scalping problem, with people reselling their Pokémon cards online to make a profit.

As well as the V Battle Decks, Pokémon Trading Card game fans will also be able to get their hands on the new Pokémon Trading Card Game: Celebrations collection. Celebrations is being released to honor the Pokémon franchise's 25th anniversary this year, and will include remakes of classic cards from the 1990s. Each booster pack in the series will include four cards with foil treatments and a special 25th-anniversary logo. A 25-card subset will also be released, which will include a remake of the classic Base Set Charizard, among others. Pokémon TCG: Celebrations releases on the same day as the Rayquaza V and Noivern V Battle Decks.

Pokémon card shortages still remain a problem worldwide, which can make it difficult to acquire new releases. The issue has caused some violence at Pokémon card game retailers, and many stores across the globe have limited how many packs can be purchased per customer. Players looking to add either the Rayquaza V and Noivern V Battle Decks or the Pokémon TCG: Celebrations series to their collections should plan ahead to avoid disappointment.
