Marvel's Avengers Wakanda Concept Art Shows Off Impressive Locales

With the latest DLC set to arrive soon, the team behind Marvel’s Avengers has unveiled concept art for the game's take on the fictional nation of Wakanda in all of its stunning glory.  The home of the mighty Black Panther will be featured in August’s War for Wakanda expansion, which will feature T’Challa joining forces with the Avengers to protect his homeland from the evil Klaw.

While Black Panther was one of the most highly-requested characters for Crystal Dynamics’ Avengers game, the Wakandan warrior was absent from the main game when it launched last fall and Square Enix postponed his official DLC unveiling out of respect for the late Chadwick Boseman (who played the groundbreaking hero in the MCU before his untimely passing last year). It wasn't until March that fans received their first look at the Black Panther-centric War for Wakanda DLC, with Square Enix getting into more detail during its panel at last month’s E3.

Just a few days ago, the AVENGERS COMMUNITY Twitter account shared some truly amazing concept art of Wakanda in Marvel’s Avengers, providing an even deeper look at how the traditional-yet-futuristic African nation is going to look in August’s DLC. The images featured include T’Challa standing watchfully over his kingdom, Captain America and the other Avengers rendezvousing with him in a lush jungle, and the heroes arriving in front of a massive Wakandan temple - complete with high-tech Vibranium enhancements and massive statues devoted to Bast, the ancient God embodied by the Black Panther himself.

Black Panther is just the latest hero to be added to Marvel’s Avengers, which has seen DLC centered around Hawkeye and Kate Bishop and promises a multitude of new characters to come – including the PlayStation-exclusive Spider-Man. So far, Marvel’s Avengers has struggled to win over players thanks to controversy over its live-service system and over-reliance on microtransactions. Crystal Dynamics has been working to remedy this in the months since Avengers first launched, with its most recent promotion being a Red Room Takeover event to commemorate the newly-released Black Widow movie.

The concept art for Marvel's Avengers' version of Wakanda is simply breathtaking, featuring lush jungles, stunning mountain vistas, and eye-catching architecture that blends the traditions of the past with the technology of the future - just like Wakanda has done for decades in both the comics and the MCU. Players will get to explore Wakanda and step into the Vibranium-laced suit of its protector when the Marvel’s Avengers War for Wakanda DLC launches this August.
