Henry Cavill, the actor who portrays Geralt of Rivia in the Netflix series The Witcher, ended a recent interview with a reference to Warhammer 40k. The highly-acclaimed Witcher franchise began as a series of novels from Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski before being adapted as a video game trilogy by CD Projekt Red. During the stream it was revealed that the upcoming The Witcher 3 upgrade will include Netflix series-inspired items. This enhanced version of The Wild Hunt, taking advantage of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S hardware, will feature new items such as armor inspired by the live-action show. The digital WitcherCon event focused on the live-action series and the video game trilogy in equal measure, with this news acting as a perfect crossover between the two mediums. Actor Henry Cavill, known for portraying The Witcher protagonist Geralt of Rivia alongside other iconic roles such as Superman, was also present at the event. During an interview it was revealed that Cavill plays The Witcher 3 on a GTX 3090-powered computer.
To conclude his WitcherCon interview, posted to Netflix's YouTube channel as part of the full event, Henry Cavill made reference to Games Workshop's Warhammer 40k. After a lengthy interview, during which he demonstrated a deep love and understanding of the Witcher franchise, the actor revealed that he had been dying to address something from the Witcher set. Cavill draws attention to the fact that a chandelier from the show's set resembles a Blackstone Fortress. These massive alien warships act as fortresses for Warhammer 40k factions such as the Imperium of Man and the Forces of Chaos.
Warhammer 40k is perhaps the most popular miniature wargame in the world, so it is likely that many fans were able to understand Henry Cavill's reference.
