Game Of Thrones Deepfake Video Makes Elizabeth Olsen Daenerys Targaryen

Game of Thrones deepfake makes Elizabeth Olsen the Queen of the Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen. Daenerys was portrayed by Emilia Clarke in the hit HBO series, which ran for eight seasons. Olsen is best known for her role in the MCU as Wanda Maximoff, and was recently nominated for an Emmy for her portrayal of Wanda in the limited series WandaVision. Both Daenerys and Wanda had to deal with an immense amount of trauma in their respective character arcs. The way that Daenerys' story arc was handled in the final season of Game of Thrones remains controversial amongst fans to this day.

When Daenerys was introduced in Game of Thrones she was nothing but a marriage pawn for her evil brother Viserys (Harry Lloyd.) Her marriage to Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa) and his subsequent death resulted in a literal baptism by fire for Daenerys. The newly minted Mother of Dragons made it her mission to claim the Iron Throne and to free enslaved people across the Seven Kingdoms. Her intentions were honorable but took a sharp and dark turn in Game of Thrones season 8, where she ultimately died at the hands of her lover Jon Snow (Kit Harington) after burning down King's Landing and becoming the Mad Queen.

Now, an incredibly realistic deepfake video from YouTube creator stryder HD makes Olsen the Mother of Dragons. The resemblance between Olsen and Clarke in the video is eerily uncanny, and places Olsen in several iconic Daenerys-centric scenes. Check out the video below.

What's interesting about the deepfake video is that Olsen did actually audition for the role of Daenerys. The WandaVision star said her audition was awful. However, Olsen's awful Game of Thrones audition worked out in the long-run, as she was the perfect casting choice for Wanda. Clarke in turn did a fantastic job as Daenerys, but it was frustrating to see her character's inspiring journey quickly run into the ground with a rushed final season.

Both Daenerys and Wanda are complex characters in their own right. It's the way that their respective story arcs were handled that left fans feeling either frustrated or satisfied. While Wanda's unaddressed trauma was finally dealt with in WandaVision, culminating in an epic scene where she assumed her full power as the Scarlet Witch, Daenerys' descent into bloodthirsty madness almost felt cheap and unearned. Even Clarke herself understood why fans were angry at Game of Thrones series finale and Daenerys' death. In spite of that, Clarke did a great job with the material she had to work with.

While there's nothing wrong with taking an iconic female character down a dark path story-wise, Daenerys certainly deserved a better ending that what fans saw in the Game of Thrones series finale. Meanwhile, Wanda's story is far from over, and it will be interesting to see where the MCU takes her journey in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Storytelling possibilities aside, Olsen and Clarke have both done a fantastic job of bringing the two iconic female characters to the screen in such a way that moves viewers to truly care about their fates.
