Fan Made Resident Evil Village Playing Cards Are Delightfully Wholesome

An incredibly talented Resident Evil Village fan has designed some playing cards dedicated to the characters in the game, and the results are delightfully wholesome. Resident Evil Village has become a huge success for Capcom, with the title recently passing 4.5 million sales, making it one of the most prolific games in the series thus far.

This year, the Resident Evil series turned 25, and Capcom has been releasing a slew of new content to honor the franchise. This has included the latest video game entry to the series with Village, as well as new Resident Evil costumes in Division 2, a crossover with Dead by Daylight and a new anime series – Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness – on Netflix. Capcom also announced in June that a DLC for Village is in the works and that Resident Evil Re: Verse, the multiplayer component for the game, is set to go live this July. However, an area of the market that is yet to be officially tapped into by the gaming company, is tabletop card games.

However, one Resident Evil Village player has changed this, by designing their own cards devoted to the survival-horror game. Kara_Naja is an Academy of Fine Arts student, who has lovingly immortalized the Resident Evil Village cast in a series of colorful playing cards on Twitter. Each card by kara_naja depicts not just the famous faces from the game, such as Chris Redfield, Lady Dimitrescu and The Duke, but also their voice and mo-cap actors as well. The results are incredibly special, and welcomingly wholesome considering the terrifying and bloody nature of Resident Evil Village itself.

The work that was done by the actors on Resident Evil Village was hugely impressive, and this dedication from kara_naja is a testament to their performances. Never before has a game in the series captivated an audience so much before it had even been released. While a lot of the pre-launch marketing around Village focused heavily on Lady Dimitrescu, the tall and bewitching mistress of the castle, others have since developed their own fan base following the game’s release.

A lot of these characters meet their eventual demise during the events of Resident Evil Village, but some do survive the ordeals presented to them. This has pathed the way for Resident Evil 9, a title that has yet to be officially announced but that is speculated to be in the works already at Capcom. If these rumors do eventually bear fruit, seeing some of these faces return would be a welcome inclusion to the future of the franchise, as it enters its next quarter-century.
