Flight 828 from Manifest was a full flight from Jamaica. And like any other flight, the passenger list included a diverse group of people. Some were flying with their families, others on their own. Some were returning happy and fulfilled, others ready to make big changes in their lives.
The series was canceled in June 2021 after three seasons (leaving fans hanging following a cliff-hanger ending). And while many of the 200 passengers known as The Returned were introduced, there were still a lot of passengers Ben Stone hadn't yet tracked down and had only been seen in photos via Ben's elaborate investigative wall. Of the passengers who were on the show, many of whom are counted among the main cast members, some were more interesting than others, for both good and bad reasons.
10 Captain Bill Daly
Captain Bill Daly was arguably the most important passenger since he was the one responsible for flying the plane. The only reason he ranks last is that he has only been seen in a handful of episodes. But whenever he is seen, he has some interesting information, making him one of the more important characters in the series.
Daly recalled there being turbulence despite the plane's instruments failing to detect anything, nor does he believe the plane ever landed. He spent much of his time trying to clear his name since many blamed what happened on him because he was in charge of flying the plane wherever it ended up. Captain Daly set off the entire investigation into the government and The Major after he told Ben about the inconsistencies in the government reports he managed to get his hands on.
9 Bethany Collins
Appearing in a few episodes, many outsiders assume Bethany might know more than she lets on, given that she was a flight attendant on the plane. She returned in the first half of the third season finale (and what looks like the series finale) where she talked about the most recent Callings with Michaela and Zeke.
Bethany represented a real-world person in such a scenario who, after being ostracized because she was a member of this controversial group, could no longer do the job she once loved. Not surprisingly, no airline would hire her.
8 Astrid
Appearing in just one episode, Astrid becomes a memorable passenger because of her pivotal role in one particular scene. When Ben believes the Callings are sending him to her, he discovers that she has been living as a shut-in, unable to leave the house out of severe anxiety.
After a heartfelt plea to her to help him find a missing young boy, recalling his own experiences with almost losing Cal, he convinces Astrid to come with him. Despite finding herself not only out of the house but in an especially terrifying situation, Astrid does what needs to be done to help save a little boy's life.
7 Angelina Meyer
Every show needs a character fans can't stand, and in the third season, this was Angelina. Originally appearing to be a deeply religious teenage passenger who was being kept captive by her devout parents, who believed she returned with some evil intentions, Angelina evolved into someone downright dangerous.
While Cal believed there was a reason she was supposed to be with them, Angelina quickly began acting erratically, to the point of even leading to the death of a main character. Nonetheless, even if Angelina wasn't a fan-favorite character, she still had one of the most interesting arcs on the show, particularly in such a short period of time.
6 Ben Stone
Ben is supposed to be the hero -- the self-appointed leader of the passengers who made it his life's mission to save everyone from their supposed inevitable Death Date. Whether he could do this or not was the biggest question fans had after the second season. But while he's central to every storyline, there are passengers who are much more compelling than him.
Ben has a savior complex that makes him irritating at times, admirable at others. Sometimes, fans just wish he would sit back, relax, and let another character take the reins.
5 Cal Stone
While it's evident that Cal has a big role to play in what's going on and how to potentially save everyone, or at least help them complete their Callings, he is also not the best among the passengers. In fact, some might even consider him one of the worst characters from Manifest.
What's most amazing about Cal is that while he returned as the same young boy he was when the flight took off, he was miraculously cured of cancer.
4 Adrian
Adrian might have been a villain but he was initially just trying to do his best. After so much talk about how The Returned might not be human or part of a higher power, Adrian figured, why not run with that idea? It is understandable, after all, that when the passengers returned after five years, having not aged, people would question whether they represented something sinister.
In an effort to find meaning, Adrian followed a path of divinity, positioning himself as exactly what people thought they were: a messenger from a higher power. He managed to acquire many followers, including both passengers and regular folks. While it might have initially been a survival tactic, by the end, it seemed that Adrian truly did believe that the situation was pointing to the end of the world.
3 Saanvi Bahl
Saanvi was a complex character who was often conflicted between her desire to understand what happened and her moral and personal obligations. None of the research and healing of the passengers could have been accomplished without Saanvi's intellect and skills in both the medical and scientific fields, and she was, by far, the most intelligent passenger.
While her character took some strange turns, Saanvi remained one of the most valuable and interesting of the passengers. It was Saanvi who, in the seventh and eighth episodes of the third season, helped come up with the lifeboat theory that suggested the passengers all had to sink or swim together, so to speak.
2 Eagan Tehrani
Introduced in the third season, Eagan did a tremendous job at making himself a perfect foe for Ben. Blessed with an eidetic memory, he can recall everything about anything, including everything about the flight, all of the passenger names, where they were sitting, and what they were doing in the final moments they can all remember. When there's a Calling, he can recall every little detail, including small ones others miss.
But Eagan is also an angry loose cannon who is skeptical about Ben and the government's plans for the passengers. Even when he went too far, it was always clear that Eagan was a good person who just found himself in a bad situation, which made fans somewhat sympathetic to him.
1 Michaela Stone
Of all of the passengers, Michaela seems to be the most level-headed, as well as the most likable character on Manifest. While she wants desperately to save herself and the other passengers, she also knows there's a right and wrong way to go about things. This might be thanks, in part, to her training as a detective.
She is always there to talk sense into Ben and to be there for family and friends. She also has a way of getting through to other passengers that Ben never quite seemed to achieve.
