Darth Vader Just Unleashed His Most Impressive Lightsaber Attack

Darth Vader just unleashed one of his most impressive lightsaber attacks. In the latest issue of Marvel Comics' Darth Vader, the Dark Lord of the Sith is on a new mission to secure Han Solo for the Empire, hoping to use him as bait to draw out his son Luke whom he intends to kill after the events of The Empire Strikes Back. Allying himself with the young Bokku the Hutt, Vader and his new minion Ochi of Bestoon are following a lead on hunters who may be close to the infamous smuggler. However, a battle between the Dark Lord and the Droid Crush Pirate Gang leads to Vader annihilating his foes with an epic lightsaber assault.

In prior issues of Darth Vader from Greg Pak and artist Raffaele Ienco, the Dark Lord has been enduring a punishment from his master Darth Sidious. While his resulting trials on Mustafar and Exegol initially motivate him to seek revenge and to try and overthrow his master, the Emperor's terrible power is fully revealed, leading Vader to reenter the fold as Sidious' subservient apprentice once more. Now, Darth Vader #13 sees the Dark Lord and Ochi forcing Bokku the Hutt into their service, using his connections and knowledge to hunt for Han Solo.

Despite Bokku's fear and reluctance to go against the Hutt Council, he rightly fears Vader more, offering what he knows as well as his sail barge for the Dark Lord to make use of. Following a lead about a crew of droids who may be near Solo's location, Vader instructs Bokku to take him there. Once arriving, Vader is attacked by the Droid Crush Pirate Gang, who have allied themselves with the deadly assassin droid IG-88. While the resulting battle has the Dark Lord on the ropes with Vader's armor being hacked into, the Dark Lord soon gets the upper hand when Bokku fired an aerial bombardment from his ship above, resulting in Vader using his lightsaber to deflect and disperse the powerful cannon blast to take out the entire gang all at once.

While Jedi and Sith alike have been seen in the Star Wars galaxy deflecting and redirecting laser fire all the time, it's usually from pistols and blaster rifles, not massive ship cannons. As a result, this impressive and deadly feat accomplished by Vader truly shows his strength and power, and it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility to imagine that he has to tap into the dark side of the Force to bolster his strength so as to not be knocked back by the blast himself. It's devastatingly successful, and Bokku (who has been waiting to see if Vader will lose) learns a valuable lesson: Darth Vader cannot be defeated (at least not by a gang of criminal droids).

In any case, this latest lightsaber feat can be added to the already long list of epic acts Darth Vader has under his belt, proving his status as one of the most powerful beings in the entire galaxy. Regardless, Vader has now learned about the return of Crimson Dawn and its new acquisition of Han Solo, and the War of the Bounty Hunters has now begun. As such, it's a pretty good bet that Darth Vader will be using his lightsaber fairly soon. Perhaps even in a duel with his son Luke, who's also searching for Solo alongside the Rebels? Star Wars fans will just have to wait and see.
