One creative Godzilla vs. Kong fan has given Mechagodzilla the LEGO treatment. The MonsterVerse's latest installment left HBO Max at the end of April. Its opening weekend streaming numbers exceeded those of Zack Snyder's Justice League and Wonder Woman 1984. At the box office, the film has made over $400 million worldwide.
Besides the title bout, Godzilla vs. Kong's most notable feature is probably Mechagodzilla. The mechanical Titan of terror was leaked via toys in advance, so his appearance wasn't a surprise. Still, his overall portrayal wasn't known, making his emergence one of the most anticipated parts of the story. Many fans would agree Mechagodzilla was effective in design and power. Seeing him obliterate the film's human antagonist, and then stomp outside to fight Godzilla, was certainly one of 2021's most exciting sequences. Also, since Mechagodzilla served as an evil force, Godzilla and Kong put aside their differences to work together in what could only be described as the largest scale tag team to grace cinema. For collectors of action figures, Mechagodzilla currently exists in the Playmates Toys lineup, and is also getting a Funko Pop.
Reddit user, YesStonks, has created a concept for a Godzilla vs. Kong Mechagodzilla LEGO figure. According to YesStonks, this hypothetical figure release would need 4,441 parts. Its height would be 16.1 inches when built, which would be quite an impressively-sized creation. The concept has been shared in LEGO ideas. Check it out below:
Sadly, the Godzilla franchise has not made its foray into the world of LEGO yet. There have been action figures, statutes, board games, but not LEGO. With TOHO partnering with more brands than ever, such as Mezco Toyz and Mondo, hopefully the company will collaborate with LEGO at some point. Building a robot like Mechagodzilla from scratch would certainly be a fun time for fans young and old alike. LEGO fans may be interested in checking out Godzilla vs. Kong's original trailer remade in LEGO.
It is certainly a great time to be a Godzilla and Kong fan. Prior to the MonsterVerse, there wasn't much content for a number of years. Now, collectors young and old can find different collectibles suited to their interest. Affordable toys of Jet Jaguar and Destoroyah are available, while Prime 1 Studio is releasing a highly detailed replica of Kong's battle axe. With a new MonsterVerse installment reportedly being discussed, the future continues to look bright for the title creatures of Godzilla vs. Kong.
