Dragon Age 4 Might Feature The Grey Wardens, Tweet Suggests

Christian Dailey, executive producer at BioWare, posted an image on Friday that implies the Grey Wardens could return to center stage in Dragon Age 4. Of all the IPs BioWare is still actively developing, Dragon Age is the only one that still has a clean bill of health, and over six years since the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition, fans of the franchise are still chomping at the bit to get more information.

BioWare is known for games and franchises like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Anthem, and beloved RPG Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Within the Knights of the Old Republic franchise, BioWare has been releasing exclusively expansions for Star Wars: Old Republic since the game’s release in 2011. Mass Effect Andromeda, the last main entry in the Mass Effect franchise, flopped in 2017. Anthem released in 2019 and has since been largely abandoned by its community and much of the team that was working on it. Dragon Age, however, remains unsullied. Many wonder what BioWare’s recent disappointing titles mean for Dragon Age moving forward.

Because of this, fans are eager to hear more about what is to come with the franchise. Thankfully, Christian Dailey and Dragon Age creative director Matthew Goldman may have thrown them a bone to hold them over. Dailey Tweeted a picture on Friday (as reported by EuroGamer) that shows a knightly figure dressed like a Grey Warden in front of a Dragon Age logo. This has spurred new speculation that the series is returning to its routes by making the Grey Wardens the focal point of Dragon Age 4.

Dailey posted this in response to a Tweet by Goldman that states “Yo [Christian Dailey] I’m feeling really gray and pointy right now.” Goldman then retweeted Dailey’s photo with a response of approval. This definitely appears to be a planned conversation intended to show off the new art. However, whether or not it can officially be added to the portfolio of Dragon Age 4 artwork remains to officially be seen.

Electronic Arts has previously indicated that Dragon Age 4 won’t be hitting store shelves until 2022 at the earliest, so there’s still plenty of waiting and hopefully plenty of information left for the community to glean before the game’s release. One of the most important pieces of news in recent months is that BioWare and EA have decided to focus solely on single-player instead of incorporating multiplayer in Dragon Age 4. Hopefully this has allowed BioWare to take more time with developing the game, as well as other projects like Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, which is set to release on May 14. Hopefully, Dragon Age 4 will help pull BioWare out of its recent slump.
