Falcon & The Winter Soldier: 10 Best Sam Wilson Cosplays

Sam Wilson aka The Falcon from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has had a historic run in the Marvel franchise. He’s had quite a few costumes in the comics, from the classic red and white look from Heroes Reborn to his intimidating Wakandan suit with holographic ‘hard light’ wings, and all this is quite a delight for cosplayers who love recreating extravagant superhero looks.

Many cosplayers have switched up the traditional red, white and blue to introduced darker, edgier shades or have added utility-friendly gear to their looks that are easy to create. They're impressive when it comes to both paying homage and showcasing their own creativity.

10 Cap, Is That You?

Bangkok-based cosplayer Chris Carthern re-constructs Falcon’s Captain America suit in a rather simplistic format, which is great inspiration for aspiring DIY-loving cosplayers. Falcon’s Captain America suit is Wakandan by design so sorting the chest armor itself is quite an ordeal.

Carthern, instead, settles on a functional metallic bodysuit, which looks sleek without coming across as too regimented. Instead of the multi-piece armor, the cosplayer opts for a bodysuit that almost resembles a tee and features the printed emblem of the superhero.

9 Whatever Works

Unlike most MCU costumes, Falcon’s are pretty easy to recreate because they are so visually dominated by primary colors and the motifs, much like some of Steve Rogers’ costumes. So if a cosplayer gets the detailing right and figures out the shades, the rest can work itself out especially if props are involved.

This cosplayer named Capitaine Deadshot opts for an embossed blue leather jacket which works on many levels; he pairs it with matching leather patch pants and gloves, along with the shield and foldable wings of course.

8 Pro Level

Cosplayer Martin Okereafor’s Falcon costume is so technically sound, even the MCU could borrow some hacks. Martin shared many details of his costume on Instagram since he built it all from scratch.

The oversized, foldable wings were made with CF65 and CF100 foam, painted with a Hexflex base and a Valour top coat. Some of the detailing was achieved with metallic paint and the wings also featured some quirky foam work. He also built a rather elaborate Falcon jetpack from scratch.

7 Proceed With Caution

Kristopher Paul’s cosplay has been designed with a lot of thought; the attention to color blocking and visual curation. The set up of the look is actually pretty simple since it uses leather co-ords but they have been styled to look like one suit.

The backpack, wings, gauntlets, and boots are all in dark colors that don’t clash with the primary palate and the shield on him is actually a Captain America 75th anniversary shield.

6 Falcon Alert

Corey Morgan sticks to solid, classic colors, which is always safer if cosplayers take some stylistic liberties. Morgan is also a face and body art expert so he aces the makeup on this cosplay. He actually uses face paint instead of Falcon’s mask which is a great personal touch.

Morgan has actually designed quite a few Falcon cosplays in the last few months, this one is a dark take on the traditional suit as it pushes the monochromatic memo hard.

5 Ve'loria Solo

Ve'loria’s take on The Falcon is ingenious, quirky and she really gives it a utilitarian edge. Her intricate and vast eight-foot wings, for starters, are dramatic and very impressive and are fitted to go with the harness. Her baggy military pants may come across as too casual, however, it is a great idea as it can easily be replaced with military camouflage pants.

“I feel like a mixture of Steve and Sam in the picture. Super ready to jet fly 4 months into the future squawking like a pterodactyl, but also terrified and pretty sure I'm not going to be ready for what the @therussobrothers have in store,” she wrote on Instagram.

4 Perfect Fixes

Texas-based cosplayer Kai.Esh’s cosplay wins major brownie points for her attention to detail as her costume looks professionally designed. She tries a rather simple styling as she pairs a jet pack over her metallic mesh bodysuit and she tries fitted PVC boots which are a great addition.

Kai.Esh’s costume is a great example of how easy it is to switch up the mood in a Falcon cosplay since it has a vivid color palette. Kai.Esh’s classic colors on her suit are noteworthy and are an homage to Falcon’s old costumes.

3 Falcon Danger

Cosplayer Helkyrie has a lot of fun with her cosplay and her look is the perfect example of how vibrant and cool a Falcon cosplay can shape up to be with a little attention to detail. The cosplayer mainly switches up a few color elements in her costume and makes it more functional.

She goes for printed wings that have been painted on, so they don’t look as technical as the ones on the show. She wears skinny denims which is a really good move as it breaks down her superhero look to make it more humane.

2 Super Duper

San Diego-based cosplayer Shana Mostella designed this look from scratch which is quite astonishing because though her curation is somewhat simplistic, the set-up and detailing are really clever. She switches up a plain black tee by adding armor plates and goes for metallic patch boots which she pairs with plain black pants.

It’s not too extravagant and yet it’s quite dramatic in terms of visual appeal since she chalks out a few key colors and basically designs the cosplay around them.

1 Flying Colors

Cosplayer Corey Morgan basically re-does the look of the Falcon’s MCU costume, and it totally works out. Leather co-ords clearly work for edgy superhero cosplays and Morgan makes some change in usual white, blue, and red and brings in black as the base shade, which is refreshing and a different take on the Falcon costume.

He re-purposes a motorcycle jacket and styles them with red gloves and foldable red wings. This look is a great last-minute costume for DIY-lovers.
