Demi Lovato's new YouTube series, Demi Lovato: Dancing With The Devil, explores what happened to her during and after her 2018 overdose. Many of her family and friends are interviewed in the series, including her half-sister, Madison De La Garza. While Madison is an important figure in the series and in Demi's life, we don't learn much about her life in the show. Madison is an actress, screenwriter, and director, and she's only nineteen years old.
In Dancing With The Devil, Madison is an integral part of Demi's recovery. Demi explains that she first got sober when she was eighteen, and it was because of her sister. Her mother, Dianna, and step-father, Eddie, gave her an ultimatum – she wouldn't be allowed to see Madison anymore if she kept using drugs and alcohol. Demi and Madison's close relationship prompted Demi to work on getting sober. When she woke up from her overdose in 2018, Madison was next to her and holding her hand. Madison describes the terrifying moment when Demi didn't know who she was in the documentary. Demi was legally blind when she woke up, but now has most of her eyesight back.
Madison is Demi's half-sister from their mother's second marriage. Eddie, Demi's step-father, is Madison's father. They grew up together, and Madison was also in the entertainment industry at a young age. She played Juanita Solis, Eva Longoria's daughter, on Desperate Housewives starting when she was only seven years old, in 2008. She was on the show for four years. Madison also played a younger version of Demi's character on Sonny With A Chance on the Disney Channel. Most recently, she had a recurring role on Bad Teacher in 2014. She also has a YouTube channel where she posts videos about her life. Many also feature Demi.
Since then, Madison has been focusing on other parts of filmmaking. She co-directed a short film called Pink Elephant with Maddy Murden in 2019, and wrote and produced the short film, Subject 16, which is now on Amazon Prime. Madison put her occupation as a writer in her Instagram bio, but says in one of her YouTube videos that she wants to be an actress, writer, producer, and makeup artist.
At nineteen, Madison has already achieved so much, and we can be sure to expect great things from her. From supporting her sister to writing films, Madison is a force to be reckoned with. As the rest of Dancing With The Devil is released, we'll get to know her even better.
