Valorant: New Agent's Name & Abilities Have Leaked | Screen Rant

A recent leak seems to have spoiled the name and abilities of Valorant's newest player character. Riot's recent multiplayer shooter went online in June 2020 to solid reviews from critics, including Screen Rant's own. As enjoyable as fans have found the game to be, however, it's entered into a very competitive genre, and there have been some concerns that the player count hasn't maintained the highest player numbers it could be.

But that hasn't stopped Riot from working on the game. In true live-service fashion, the developer has introduced a steady trickle of new content into the game. Back in October, for instance, players were introduced to the game's Act 3, which introduced a new map and a battle pass for fans to work through, as well as a new character named Skye. A hero shooter like Valorant is, of course, driven by its heroes; the distinct and colorful cast of characters available for fans to choose for every match. Each comes with their own unique set of abilities and powers which give fans a wide array of choices in the heat of battle. New characters, with new powers to discover and master, are the driving force behind any good hero shooter.

And it looks like Valorant fans are getting an early glimpse at their next hero. Recent leaks courtesy of Valorant News on Twitter have spoiled both the name and the moveset of the upcoming character. The hero, who was previously only referred to as Agent 14, is named Yoru, and his abilities seem to revolve around stealth and mobility. The moveset was spoiled in Russian and translated by a fan, so the transcription isn't perfect, but it seems like Yoru will be able to project the sound of disembodied footprints in order to mislead and confuse opponents. He can also conjure portals for ease of map navigation, but the real centerpiece is his ultimate. If the translation can be believed, activating Yoru's ultimate will render him both invisible and invulnerable to damage, granting a pretty substantial advantage.

As always, leaks like this must be taken with a considerable grain of salt. This one more than most; there are a lot of leaks in this story that are more than big enough to let false information slip inside. If nothing else, the translation might be inaccurate, even if everything else is right. Only Riot can say for sure how accurate the leak is, and if fans want that confirmation, they'll have to wait until Riot officially reveals the character.

At the same time it is fun to speculate. The game's declining player numbers have led some to speculate on whether or not Valorant is a dead game. But the reaction to this leak proves that even if all the info about Agent 14 is false, Valorant is certainly not dead yet.
