The Most Memorable & Shocking First Real Housewives Episodes, Ranked

When the first Real Housewives franchise aired in 2005, no one could have imagined that it would grow into a franchise so big.

The franchise began with The Real Housewives of Orange County giving the fans the OG from the OC, Vicki Gunvalson. Since then, Bravo has created ten different franchises with the newest one being The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. These shows have given us some incredible ladies; one day we love them, the next day we hate them. Let's go back to the very first episode of a couple of the franchises and think back to which of the premiere episodes still stand the test of time. Here's the three best first episodes, ranked.

While the first episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey was a great episode it did not offer as much drama as the other two franchises. According to Vulture, the episode focused on the overall theme of family as the cast included three housewives who are somehow related to each other. Caroline Manzo is sisters with Dina Manzo and Jacqueline Laurita is there sister-law (she is married to Caroline and Dina's brother, Chris. Teresa Giudice and Danielle Staub have no family relation to the Manzo/ Laurita's, but they were all pretty tight in the beginning. The major feud in the episode is Jacqueline and Dina versus Danielle after she discovers the girls didn't invite her to the hair salon. Pretty tame for what's about to come later in the season. One of the most bone-chilling scenes of the episode is when Teresa is paying for her expensive furniture in cash. It is somewhat of a foreshadowing of Teresa and her husband, Joe Giudice's, 2015 prison sentence.

One of the more recent series premieres that fans still talk about today is The Real Housewives of Potomac premiere. Four cast members from the first season of RHOP are still standing today: Gizelle Bryant, The Grande Dame Karen Huger, Robyn Dixon, and Ashley Darby (she does not appear until the second episode). The major feud in the first episode is between Gizelle and Karen after the Grand Dame is bothered by Gizelle's etiquette for not giving her the head of the table while at her birthday dinner. An unhappy Karen gave Gizelle a framed list of etiquette rules later in the episode while at Charisse Jackson-Jordan's home. Truly one of the most unforgettable scenes in Housewives history.

Last and certainly not the least is the premiere episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. The show gave the fans some of the most memorable housewives, Nene Leakes, Kim Zolciak, and Sheree Whitfield. Unlike the other franchises, RHOA began with an already existing feud between Sheree and Nene. Sheree decided she wanted to end the feud by inviting Nene to a party at her home. When Nene arrived to Sheree's with Kim, Nene's name was not on the list and she was turned away. In true Nene fashion, she did not let this go and revealed, “It’s gonna be war.” Fans were also introduced to the infamous Big Poppa, Kim's anonymous, wealthy "boyfriend". While at a car dealership, Kim gives Big Poppa a call about a car she wants and he immediately allows her to purchase it. Of course we cannot forget Sheree's fashion line, She by Sheree, which emerged in the very first episode. The topic was brought up at almost every reunion she was a part of, from season one to season ten. She has a website set up, but still no clothing.

There are many other iconic first episodes, but these are the ones that make the franchise what it is today.
