Rocket League's New Season 2 Arena Is Basically a Huge Kaskade Concert

Rocket League's new season has been announced, celebrating music in a very bombastic way with the help of famous DJ Kaskade. This is the game's first major content addition since October, when it hosted the Haunted Hallows challenge. This was another crossover event, featuring vehicles and cosmetics inspired by the Ghostbusters films.

Rocket League has been a major success in the video game industry for a long time now. Even five years after release it remains a prominent eSports title. Following its recent acquisition by Epic Games, Rocket League has been brought into prominence once again thanks to its brand new free to play model. Players who were still on the fence about getting in on the game's raucous car-based sports mayhem could now experience the fun free of charge, and, to further incentivize new players, Epic even offered a free $10 coupon to the Epic Games Store for all new players who downloaded the game.

But a free to play model isn't the only change coming to Rocket League. Season 2 of the bombastic competitive title is dropping soon, and today developer Psyonix announced the many changes it will be bringing on the Rocket League website. The new season has a strong music theme, as celebrated by its partnership with Kaskade, who's produced an entire EP just for Rocket League. Players can enjoy the music in the brand new arena, Neon Fields, an electronic wonderland laid out to look like a giant music concert. As fans navigate the new arena, they can equip brand new cosmetics and the newest car model, R3MIX. To highlight the theme even more, some of these new cosmetics will even pulse and flash in time to whatever in-game music is playing. Check out the trailer below and get excited for the new season, which launches on December 9th.

These flashy musical additions are just the tip of the iceberg for season 2 content. Rocket League has plans to include a brand new Player Anthem system, which will let fans choose their own personal song from the game's soundtrack to play when they make a goal. More details on this addition are set to arrive at a later date. The game will also be adding an experimental limited time playlist in the form of Rocket Labs, which should introduce a lot of strange and interesting new permutations to shake up an average match. All told it's a great way to reward Rocket League's massive player base, which reached one million players shortly after it went free to play.

The future is looking bright for Rocket League. The new free to play model has brought in a lot of new fans, and these players are already enjoying the powerful benefits acquired by running the game on next-gen consoles. This new season is proof that Psyonix and Epic Games have no intention to let Rocket League fade into the background. Hopefully the party will keep rolling for a very long time.
