Kang the Conqueror will be making an appearance in the upcoming King in Black event as the time-traveling supervillain will try to save the universe in the upcoming Symbiote Spider-Man: King In Black storyline. However, considering it's Kang, he isn't exactly going to take a full-blown heroic turn, as he'll need to extract some information for Uatu The Watcher first.
Kang the Conqueror has been a longtime thorn in the sides of Marvel heroes. Created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee, Kang has used his vast powers, including the ability to time travel, to shake up the Marvel Universe - most famously against the Avengers. Kang is also set to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the upcoming Ant-Man 3, as he'll be played by Lovecraft Country's Jonathan Majors. While he's known for wreaking havoc on the good guys, a new preview from CBR.com suggests before he hits the big screen, Kang will be using his vast intellect and power to try to save the universe.
Symbiote Spider-Man: King In Black will take place in the past and feature the exploits of Knull, Marvel's King in Black. Knull has been trying to envelop the universe in darkness for a long time and this adventure will follow one of his earliest attempts. As Peter Parker will be sporting his iconic black costume, Kang will be trying to get information from Uatu in order to save the universe - seemingly from Knull. Check out the preview below.

- Knull, the KING IN BLACK, has set his sights on Earth – but as avid Marvelites already know, his hand has been at work at the edge of the Marvel Universe for years! IN THIS SERIES, witness one of Knull’s earliest attempts at birthing life from the darkness of non-creation! From superstar creators PETER DAVID and GREG LAND comes a titanic tie-in tale to this year’s winter epic KING IN BLACK!
The preview reveals that Kang is going to try to take Uatu's vast knowledge accumulated over thousands of years of watching the Marvel Universe and feed into his supercomputers. While you might think Kang is doing so in order to gain an upper-hand on the Avengers on Earth, it seems he's doing it for altruistic reasons: To save the universe. Now, it's unclear how Kang the Conqueror defines 'saving the universe,' but it seems to he's going to do his best to be a hero as Knull makes himself known.
The series will be written by Peter David and feature art from Greg Land. The book will launch with a series of variant covers and be available in comic shops and online on Nov. 18th.
