MCU: 10 Most Memorable Quotes From Captain America: Civil War

Phase 3 of the MCU kicked off with the third film in the Captain America franchise, although as many fans pointed out, it's pretty close to being a full-fledged Avengers movie. Captain America: Civil War finds the heroes divided over the idea of the Avengers being put under government control. The matter is complicated further with the re-emergence of the Winter Soldier.

The movie really showed what this extended universe was capable of as so many fan-favorite and new characters are brought into this story together, which makes for a thrilling superhero adventure. Here are the most memorable quotes from Captain America: Civil War.

10 "Our Very Strength Incites Challenge. Challenge Incites Conflict. And Conflict Breeds Catastrophe."

Alongside the superhero action, the film addresses some fascinating questions about how much the Avengers are responsible for the chaos they fight. The movie looks at the various disasters from other films in which the action of the Avengers may have caused civilian casualties.

As the team debates whether or not they need oversight, Vision brings up an interesting point as to why it is necessary. He explains that since Iron Man became a public superhero, the amount of world threats has increased. In his eyes, the existence of the Avengers could entice new threats.

9 "Sometimes I Wanna Punch You In Your Perfect Teeth."

Various heroes are pitted against each other in this film, but the main quarrel is between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark. Each of them stands firmly in their own beliefs but the two friends still try to work out their differences before things turn bad.

Steve explains that when he sees a situation he knows is wrong, he has to stand in the way. Tony responds, "Sometimes I want to punch you in your perfect teeth." They are two very different men who have their conflicts, but they are still friends. That makes what comes later all the more tragic.

8 "We Try To Save As Many People As We Can. Sometimes That Doesn't Mean Everybody."

The film opens with the new team of Avengers on a mission in Lagos to take down Crossbones and his team of mercenaries. However, when Wanda is trying to save Cap from a bomb, she causes an explosion in a building that kills several innocent people.

After the incident, Steve tries to comfort Wanda. He explains that the job is not easy and they don't always succeed in saving the day. It is an interesting side of the superheroes fans rarely see.

7 "Anybody On Our Side Hiding Any Shocking And Fantastic Abilities They'd Like To Disclose?"

The most entertaining sequence in this film comes with the massive airport fight between the two groups of heroes. Though the idea of the Avengers fighting each other is troubling, it is also incredibly fun seeing all these heroes facing off.

Ant-Man steals the show in this fight and comes with a big surprise as he transforms into Giant-Man to take on Iron Man and his team. Seeing this transformation, Tony asks if anyone on his team has a similar ace up their sleeve.

6 "Underoos!"

Even while bringing together a lot of established heroes, Civil War also manages to effectively introduce some new ones. This included Spider-Man's much-anticipated introduction into the MCU as played by Tom Holland.

Holland nails the part and despite the short screen time, it’s a thrill to see this iconic character in this universe. He even gets a perfect introduction in the airport sequence with Tony calling out "Underoos" and Spider-Man swiping Cap's shield while showing off his new costume.

5 "I Remember All Of Them."

The conflict in the movie starts with the Accords calling for oversight of the Avengers, but the climax makes it a much more personal issue in the end. Zemo's full plan is unveiled as he reveals that Bucky Barnes was responsible for the death of Tony Stark's parents.

Tony goes into a blind rage and tries to kill Bucky. As they fight, Tony asks him, "Do you even remember them?" and Bucky replies "I remember all of them." It's a heartbreaking line that serves as a reminder of how much Bucky has suffered over the years.

4 "Vengeance Has Consumed You. It's Consuming Them. I'm Done Letting It Consume Me."

T'Challa, aka Black Panther, is another new hero brought into this film. Played with stoic intensity by Chadwick Boseman, T'Challa makes for a unique new character at the center of the story. After his father is killed in a bombing, T'Challa goes after Bucky, whom he thinks is responsible.

In the end, T'Challa realizes he was set up by Zemo as well, but when he confronts the villain, he shows why he is a wiser hero than the others. Seeing what Zemo and now Stark have been pushed to through revenge, T'Challa vows not to let it control him.

3 "He's My Friend."

Once Tony learns the truth about his parents, Cap is all that stands between him and killing Bucky. Knowing that Bucky was under Hydra's control, Cap tries to reason with Tony by telling him Bucky is his friend. Tony coldly replies, "So was I."

2 "That Shield Doesn't Belong To You."

In the end, Cap manages to beat Tony and save Bucky, but it marks that end of their friendship and the end of the Avengers. As Tony lies beaten on the ground, Cap takes an injured Bucky and begins to leave.

Tony calls after Cap that the shield he is carrying was made by his father and that it doesn't belong to him. Cap, being the noble hero that he is, accepts this and drops his iconic shield to the ground.

1 "I Promise You, If You Need Us — If You Need Me — I'll Be There."

The film's third act comes to a somber end as Zemo's plan to dismantle the Avengers seems to have worked. The relationship between Steve and Tony is damaged seemingly beyond repair and Steve has gone into hiding.

However, the movie offers a final bit of optimism from, of course, Captain America. He sends a note to Tony along with a phone. He explains that he thought he was doing the right thing but admits to making mistakes. He knows that the conflict between them is painful but when Tony needs him, he will be there.
