Hailee Steinfeld becomes Kate Bishop in new fan art for Marvel's upcoming Hawkeye. Marvel is hard at work developing a plethora of new shows for Disney+, all of which are expected to further expand and connect to the MCU. The first, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, was initially expected to arrive next month, but the coronavirus pandemic delayed its production and forced it to be delayed indefinitely. Meanwhile, Hawkeye has yet to begin filming, though it is still slated for release in 2021. Most recently, multiple directors signed on to helm various Hawkeye episodes.
Jeremy Renner will return as Clint Barton for Hawkeye, his first solo project within the MCU. Details are still scarce, but it has been revealed that the show will finally delve into Clint's backstory. Additionally, Hawkeye will introduce the Young Avenger Kate Bishop. Ever since Kate's involvement was confirmed, fans have eagerly awaited her casting. Steinfeld has long been a popular pick, dating all the way back to last year. However, when asked about the role, Steinfeld wouldn't verify the rumors that Marvel is considering her.
At the same time, fans have now grown accustomed to the idea of her being involved with Hawkeye, which leads to this piece of fan art from ApexForm. Steinfeld is in full Kate Bishop regalia for this piece, and that includes, of course, her bow and arrow. You can check it down down below.
Whether or not Steinfeld is still in the running for the role of Kate is a tricky issue. Earlier this month, reports surfaced saying Steinfeld has been "long gone" from Marvel's sights, though some still hold out hope that she could be cast. At this point, the only thing that will provide some real clarity is Marvel finally announcing who they have cast. With Hawkeye finalizing its behind the scenes team and presumably gearing up for the start of filming, one can hope that Marvel will reveal their pick for Kate Bishop soon.
Steinfeld does seem like an excellent choice for Kate, and this art really makes a good case for her stepping into the role. She's proven her acting chops with roles in projects like True Grit, The Edge of Seventeen, and Dickinson; adding her to the MCU would make perfect sense, even if it isn't as Kate. The only thing that seems certain right now is that Kate Bishop will be joining the MCU in Hawkeye, and fans couldn't be more excited.
Hawkeye will debut on Disney+ in 2021.
