Community: The 5 Best Couples (& 5 Worst), Ranked | ScreenRant

Community remains one of the most unique sitcoms of recent memory, this is largely due to its complex approach to romantic relationships. Where other sitcoms tease the possibility of a couple getting together, Community subverts this and portrays romantic relationships less simplistically and with more depth than other sitcoms.

Over its six seasons, the study group found love, fell out of love, and everything in between. Sometimes these relationships worked out and were an unexpected match, where others were decidedly less healthy. With this in mind here are the 5 best and the 5 worst couples featured throughout the series.

10 WORST: Annie and Vaughn

Although by no means an awful couple there's no doubt that Annie and Vaughn weren't meant to last. Vaughn previously dated Britta, but their relationship quickly fizzled out. Annie began dating Vaughn during season one and he brought out Annie's more playful side.

However, the relationship came to a close when Vaughn was given the opportunity to transfer to a prestigious hackysack university. Annie initially planned to go with him but changed her mind at the last minute and stayed at Greendale with her friends.

9 BEST: Neil and Vicki

Although their screentime may have been limited, Neil and Vicki were one of the few healthy and functioning romantic relationships at Greendale.

Their romance was sparked in season 2 "Basic Lupine Urology", where it revealed that Neil had sabotaged the biology classes Yam's, except for Vicki's so that she could spend the summer with him instead of retaking the class. After this, they began dating and pop up together throughout the rest of there series.

8 WORST: Chang and Alessandra

Ben Chang proved to be one of the most unstable and unpredictable students/teachers at Greendale Community College. It's unsurprising then that he and his wife are separated.

Their relationship continued to struggle until they finally got a divorce after Alessandra discovered Chang had gotten Shirley pregnant. While it may be true that at one point they loved each other, their relationship was over and limped on until it was ultimately put down.

7 BEST: Pierce and Wu Mei

Wu Mei appeared in season 2's "Competitive Wine Tasting" and surprised everyone when she and Pierce begin dating. Things got even crazier when just a short while later they reveal they were engaged. The relationship ended abruptly when Wu Mei revealed that she works for a rival moist toilette company, and she was only dating Pierce to gain information about their products.

However despite this rocky start, they later get together for dinner, and the two bonded as they both had a lot in common. They found that their equally abrasive personalities meshed and they had a lot to talk about.

6 WORST: Shirley and Andre

Shiley's entire reason for being at Greendale in the first place was motivated by her break-up from her husband Andre, who cheated on her. It was surprising when she began seeing him again, and even more shocking when they decided to re-marry.

With the past behind them, their marriage seemed stronger than ever. But the tables were turned in season 5 when it was revealed that this time it was Andre that left Shirley. Their relationship was complex and realistic, but ultimately flawed. While they both gave it their best shot they both made plenty of mistakes. Hopefully, this marks the end of their romantic relationship.

5 BEST: Jeff and Britta

From the moment they were introduced, it was clear that Jeff and Britta served as the closest the show came to a conventional will-they-won't-they couple. However, their relationship was more complex than that and their friendship was based largely on arguing and bickering endlessly.

They ultimately did get together, but it didn't last. The pair were able to remain good friends after, with their mutual attraction always there and an option for them to explore.

4 WORST: Troy and Britta

The romantic potential between Troy and Britta had been hinted at for several seasons, but when they ultimately decided to become a couple in season 4 the results proved to be underwhelming.

While they had some good times together, Troy was the one who called it quits upon the realization that he wasn't mature enough yet to handle a serious romantic relationship. He delivered the news to Britta by body-swapping with Abed, Freaky Friday style.

3 BEST: Jeff and Annie

Annie and Jeff proved to be one of the most unexpected but best couples featured in the show. Jeff initially began pursuing Britta, however, he ultimately realized that he may be better suited to being with Annie.

This led to them sharing a heartfelt kiss at the end of the first season. The pair had strong feelings for one another and their flirtations continued through the series, but they were held back from properly being together. Annie left at the end of season 6 for an internship with the F.B.I, and their future together remains uncertain.

2 WORST: Jeff and Professor Slater

Jeff and Professor Slater dated during season 1, and on paper, the pair seem like a great match. But, in reality, it didn't last. Their relationship was filled with ups and downs, with the couple repeatedly butting heads, arguing, and breaking-up.

At the end of season 1, Jeff is forced to choose between Slater and Britta, instead, he chooses neither and ends up unexpectedly kissing Annie. This was the last appearance of Professor Slater who is never seen again.

1 BEST: Abed and Rachel

Abed is a unique personality like no one else in the study group, his constant pop culture reference makes him difficult to connect with. Despite this, he was confident and found himself at the center of a few romantic encounters.

He met Rachel, played by Brie Larson, in season 4 and they pair immediately hit it off. Their relationship continued in season 5, but despite still being together Rachel failed to appear in subsequent episodes of the show.
