The Wrong Missy & 9 Other Classic Adam Sandler Productions

The Wrong Missy is the latest Netflix offering from comedy superstar Adam Sandler and his Happy Madison Productions. It stars Lauren Lapkus, Jackie Sandler, and fellow SNL alum, David Spade.

Just the most recent in a long line of movies Sandler has produced or starred in, it hits many of the same points others in the Sandler portfolio do - it's slightly absurd, at least a little rude, and piles of light humor. If you enjoyed it, there’s plenty more in Adam Sandler's filmography to enjoy that follows the same vein.

10 The Wrong Missy (2020)

After Tim - played by David Spade - goes on a date after his divorce, he decides she’s too unhinged for him and decides to never speak to her again. Soon enough, he meets another woman in an airport and gets her number after they hit it off.

Unfortunately, they share the same name, and he texts the wrong one, not realizing his mistake until they meet up on a plane bound for Hawaii, where he has to try and keep her antics away from his boss and nemesis.

9 Joe Dirt (2001)

Another Happy Madison Production with Spade as the lead, Joe Dirt begins by following the story that a janitor at a Los Angeles radio station is telling on the air. Abandoned by his family at the Grand Canyon when he was a child, he eventually begins looking for them.

Eventually, his story catches up to the present in the film, and when he leaves the station he discovers he’s become famous and has to deal with the fallout.

8 Jack And Jill (2011)

Widely regarded as possibly the worst film ever made, Jack and Jill made history by managing to sweep the Razzies the year it was released. Starring Sandler as Jack Sadelstein, one of a pair of twins in New York City, it also stars Sandler as his fraternal twin sister, Jill.

Jack is a successful ad executive, and borderline hates his sister who never moved out of their parent’s house and has a large pet cockatoo named Poopsie. Things spiral predictably out of control the longer his sister is around.

7 50 First Dates (2004)

Starring Sandler and Drew Barrymore, 50 First Dates is one of the more successful films in the Happy Madison lineup. Sandler is a veterinarian at a marine park in Hawaii where he meets Barrymore’s Lucy Whitmore after he visits a cafe.

He eventually discovers that Lucy can’t form new memories after an accident the year before, and he does his best to help her remember him every new day.

6 Bedtime Stories (2008)

Coproduced by Andrew Gunn’s Gunn Films and Walt Disney, Sandler plays a handyman at a newer and larger version of what was formerly his family’s hotel.

While taking care of his niece and nephew, they add their own parts to his bedtime stories and they start to come true. In the way things usually do in Sandler’s productions, everything works out in the end, but in the most absurd way possible.

5 Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo (1999)

The first-ever Happy Madison film, Deuce Bigalow stars Sandler frequent face, Rob Schneider, as fishtank cleaner who loses his job at an aquarium after doing his job in the nude.

He ends up agreeing to housesit for a male prostitute while he’s out of town so that he can take care of the man’s sick lionfish. After breaking a tank, he turns to his host’s profession to try to scrape together the money to replace it before he’s found out.

4 Little Nicky (2000)

Sandler headlines this film at the titular Nicky, who is something of a daddy’s boy and the definite favorite of his father. The catch: his father is Satan. His two brothers are cruel to the sweet-tempered Nicky, who through the course of the film has to find a way to keep his brothers from usurping their father’s throne.

Little Nicky gets a little strange at points, even for a Sandler movie, but it’s still worth a watch.

3 Grown Ups (2010)

An ensemble comedy with Happy Madison regulars Sandler, Schneider, and Spade, Grown Ups fills out the cast with Kevin James and Chris Rock. Reuniting years later when their basketball coach dies, the three have grown and their lives have all turned out to not quite be what they imagined.

Reminiscing about their childhood, they all decide to make changes in their lives. Although it doesn’t always work out quite like they thought it would, it’s a fun ride getting there.

2 The Longest Yard (2005)

In this remake, Sandler plays Paul Crewe, a former professional quarterback accused of losing games on purpose. After a drunken joyride followed by a police chase, he finds himself in a prison run by a warden with aspirations of becoming governor.

Ordered by the warden to organize a team of inmates to play against the guards, Crewe must eventually decide between his former ways and his loyalty to his new teammates.

1 Murder Mystery (2019)

Starring alongside Jennifer Aniston in the second Happy Madison romcom together after 2011’s Just Go With It, Sandler plays an NYC cop married to a hairdresser.

Setting off on a trip to Italy for their anniversary, they meet a billionaire on their flight and end up on his yacht in the Mediterranean. What follows are murders and capers that seem like a mix of an Agatha Christie novel meets Mission Impossible.
