The Suicide Squad director James Gunn revealed the cast members with the best unscripted moments are John Cena, Flula Borg, and Pete Davidson. Despite this being the second Suicide Squad movie to debut in recent years, Gunn's film isn't a direct sequel to the David Ayer-directed 2016 film. Ayer previously said Gunn's Suicide Squad will take place in a separate continuity, but at the same time, there are four characters crossing over between the two movies. The Suicide Squad will see Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), and Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) return for another adventure. These four are the only ones confirmed to return; the rest of the cast is comprised of newcomers to the franchise.
Gunn has kept so much of The Suicide Squad a secret, including who everyone is playing. Fans have attempted to guess which comic book characters are involved with the film through set photos, but nothing has been confirmed. It seems likely that Cena is playing Peacemaker, especially since he didn't definitively say he wasn't when asked. Meanwhile, it's unclear who Borg and Davidson are playing, though Davidson recently revealed he wore a "big, uncomfortable costume" for the film.
Gunn, who is known for hosting Q&A sessions on social media, was asked by a fan if there were any funny unscripted moments that occurred during production for The Suicide Squad (via ComicBook.com). Gunn replied with a firm yes and said most of them came from Cena, Davidson, and Borg.
Having these three names get singled out for this isn't terribly surprising. Cena has become a breakout source of comic relief in films such as Sisters and Blockers, and it makes sense that would continue into one of Gunn's films. Borg also proved his comedic chops in Pitch Perfect 2. Finally, Davidson rose to stardom through his time on Saturday Night Live and on various comedy specials, so the fact that he would provide some hilarious unscripted moments for The Suicide Squad almost seems like a given.
Fans are always keen to figure out which moments in movies weren't originally included in the scripts. More often than not, they actually end up being some of the funniest or biggest parts of the movies. This is often the case in Marvel movies (including Gunn's own Guardians of the Galaxy films), and DC has been known to have some of their own. Now it sounds like fans should be on the lookout for some great moments from these three actors when The Suicide Squad rolls out in theaters next year.
