Star Wars Impressions Of Kylo Ren, Han Solo, Lando & More Are Excellent

Star Wars impressions of Kylo Ren, Han Solo, Lando, and more are excellent. Anyone who is a Star Wars fan or who has paid any attention to Star Wars fans knows that they are some of the most creative and dedicated supporters of any film franchise.

It almost seems as though each day brings some new form of fan art or interpretation of any of the films in the series. This became especially evident when Disney’s subscription streaming service launched The Mandalorian late last year, and The Child (aka Baby Yoda) became an online sensation. And then, of course, 2019 was topped off by the arrival of the culmination of the Skywalker Saga with J.J. Abrams’ The Rise of Skywalker. With the Covid-19 pandemic keeping people around the world in a state of lockdown, there has been more time than ever for Star Wars fans to come up with new and sometimes humorous ways to honor the famed sci-fi franchise. What’s more, there’s never been as much source material to choose from as there currently is.

The most recent bit of Star Wars fan appreciation isn’t quite fan art in the traditional sense of the term, but it does involve some skilfully done impressions, which are an art form that few can master. The impressions are performed by TikTok user Kevin Kenobi, aka @funklord_vader, and come to us from Twitter via @RussellHFilm. Altogether, eight different Star Wars character impressions are featured in the video (below): Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Darth Maul, Lando Calrissian, Kylo Ren, Han Solo, Emperor Palpatine, and Grand Moff Tarkin.

There are some genuinely solid impressions in the video, and part of what makes them so great is how well @funklord_vader manages to take on some of the characters’ physical traits as well. The cocky, carefree swagger of Han Solo is perfectly represented, as is the pouty, melancholy nature of Anakin. The humor flows naturally from the impressions as well, though the fact that each character offers their own interpretation of the phrase “I love it when you call me Señorita” makes things all the more hilarious. For those who aren’t aware of just where this seemingly random phrase comes from, it’s a lyric from the 2019 multiplatinum pop song “Señorita,” by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello.

@funklord_vader is likely going to gain a whole lot of new followers thanks to his masterfully done impressions. Surprisingly, neither Yoda nor C-3P0 made the list – maybe they’ll make a future appearance. Hopefully, the popularity of these impressions will also mean that the young talent will continue to expand his repertoire of Star Wars characters and perhaps maybe even delve into some other popular franchises as well? Given that he’s already got a Han Solo impression down, it’s not much of a leap to try out something similar - say, with the Indiana Jones franchise?
