Halloween Kills Release Date Hopefully Won't Be Delayed

Producer Jason Blum has revealed that he hopes to hit the intended 2020 release date for Halloween Kills. 2018's Halloween not only brought Michael Myers back to the big screen but also saw the return of Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie Strode. David Gordon Green's film serves as a direct sequel to John Carpenter's 1979 horror flick, retconning all of the past sequels and reboots.

Halloween performed tremendously well at the box office, pulling in an impressive $255 million worldwide against a modest budget of just $10 million. Halloween was also met with an immensely positive reception from critics and audiences alike, becoming one of the Halloween franchise's best-reviewed films. Due to the film's financial and critical success, it will be receiving two sequels, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends, both set to be released a year apart from one another. However, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, those release dates may be subject to change.

In an interview with EW, producer Jason Blum revealed that he hopes to release Halloween Kills in 2020 and avoid a possible delay. When asked about the status of the project, Blum stated, "Well, we're trying to get that trailer out and trying to get that movie out before the end of the year. That's our hope, dream, and plan. We'll see."

Plot details are scarce for the horror sequel at this time, but fans assume the film will take place soon after the events of its predecessor, which culminated in a showdown between Strode, her daughter Karen (Judy Greer), and the notorious Michael Myers. Despite Laurie and Karen seemingly defeating Michael in Halloween, leaked photos from Halloween Kills showed the return of the Myers household, a significant location from the original film, which has caused fans to speculate as to what it will mean for the sequel. With the continual updates on the film and word that the Halloween Kills trailer might drop soon, Blumhouse has provided fans with hope that the sequel will meet it's October release.

As things slowly begin to return to normal following the Coronavirus pandemic, the possibility of Halloween Kills hitting its intended release date becomes more and more likely. The sequel also benefits from not having its production interrupted, as Halloween Kills finished filming last November. Also, the fact that the film is currently slated to hit theaters in October is encouraging since most theater chains, such as AMC, will be reopening in July. In the meantime, fans will have to cross their fingers and hope that Halloween Kills is still able to be released this October, just in time for Halloween.
